Marcus,

I understand your issues in relation to our costs, but Sherbrooke has traditionally always presented quality awards for this event. Many an archer comes back each year trying to get a matching cup and majority of our feedback has been positive.

Yes we could reduce our awards but we as a committee have set a standard and believe that the cost is reasonable, relative to the event and in comparison to other sports events.

Look at other sports, as I do and I believe the overall cost for 2 days of doing what we enjoy is worth the money.

The Silver Cup is also registered as an arrowhead event and conseqently attracts additional expense, this is at our own initiative and to allow archers to gain the International award.

Well I see cost 2 ways.
Firstly, The silver cup is usually full, so charging what you do is justafiable. However I don't buy the arguement that look at what other sports charge is a issue.
I played competitive grid iron and basketball for 7 years while taking a break from archery and fact is, archery costs ALOT more to participate in than those sports. Some sports charge quite high fees, but you get money as a prize.
Example, if I want to compete at a decent level in all three the costs are

Grid Iron
Club fees: $150 PA
Game fees: 0-$5
Equipment-
Helmet: $250
Body armour: $300
Shoes: $180
Others: $50
Total per year: (8 games) $970

Basketball
Club fees: $0
Game fees: $5
Equipment-
Uniform: $20
Shoes: $180

Total per year: (24 games) $320

Archery
Club fees: $200 PA (includes Assoc)
Game fees: $15-$18 (per day, we'll say $15 for arguement sake
Equipment-
Bow: $700
Arrows: $360
Others: $750
Total per year: (8 comps) $2130

No wonder juniors are not coming to our sport. Yes a bow can last for 3 years, but I know from my own point of view that people join the sport and it's just a constant ask for money. Few families are shooting comps these day, if you go to every state comp this year its about $560. If you are a family of 4 that gets up to $2000 a year to compete.

I guess all I'm saying is that I would hate to think I'm paying a huge entry fee just some we can have pretty trophies. I'ld rather a small wooden plauque or a $3 medal. Because end of the day if you only shoot for pretty trophies you probably won't win many, and if you don't shoot for em, why do you care how they look.

Just some feedback, otherwise I'm looking forward to the event. Havn't shot this FITA Field in a real comp yet.
