I have been asked many times as the SOMA Distributor to bring in the SOMA Waterproof Target faces.
These are used at AIS, and were used at the Korea World Cup.
These faces actually re heal, are made from polyester and are extremely light.
They last about 4 times as long as other normal faces and it doesnt matter how wet they get.
They cannot be stuck to cardboard as this is a waste of time with the polyester as it stops the rehealing process.
Price's are expensive I know, but the faces cost a lot more.....when you work out they last 4x as long they are not expensive anymore, and rain is not an issue!
You will be able to see them at the Canberra International Tournament.
$16.50 each face for 122cm or
Pack of 50 is $700 for 122cm
$8.50 each face for 80cm or
$400 for a pack of 50 80cm faces.

Paul decided to shoot his targets at the qre (soma ones).
The 122 stood up really good, the 80cm copped it though.
There were 2 archers on the target and both were pretty good shots (violator and 2dogs)
We did try to cadge the rest out of him but he would not give them up :-(
What were your thoughts on how they stood up to a fita Paul, as a person that shot them?

They stood up very well, particularly the 122cm
The 80cm copped it, but I still think it stood up better then the normal paper one.
But the 122cm definately did shine/.

Only thing I'd say is that in heavy rain on a black background they're a bit dull. Very nice faces otherwise though.

I think in heavy rain it would be hard to see anything.

that was all due to the black paper. they are fine when there is a light background.

So what is the best material to stick them too? Or just dont stick them to anything at all?

yes i agree the 80cm stood up alot better than the papper targets would.
there was alot of arrows in that ten by the end of hte day and the face was still ledgable.... no big holes.

im curious, what do you all normally mean when you say a target board or target face re-heals?
yea the first impression running accross the term tells me that in between uses, the holes patch themselves up. or something like that. right? though that sounds very wolverine, which isn't quite possible.
what does it really mean?

I suppose more that the holes tend to be slightly smaller than the arrow shaft because it partly stretches around them and is resistant to ripping, rather than a paper face where the holes start off the size of the shaft and rip larger?
They don't have any kind of Wolverine healing factor, but that would be pretty nifty :-P

Eddie, dont stick them to anything or the healing process will not work....glad to hear people are happy

haha. who wouldn't want a wolverine healing board/target face? you won't need to buy another target board again for life! haha.

Yeah, they performed very well in the wet, though as has been mentioned - would have been better on a white background as they turn opaque when wet.
