Shot 2 300's Aust 1 indoor tonight.
Not a huge X count, 19 and 18x (so a 577 FITA, which is cruel)
This was the first round. Shot 2 9's in the practice ends getting the sights right. (shot bottom face, then top then middle in practice due to a rest setting change)
Kept hitting high on the top face which hurt my X count alot. Middle target was X's from the third end on.
Also moved nocking point by 1/8" between the rounds.

Well done!...... not an easy task

What release were you using?

Why did you move the nocking point between rounds, just experimenting I guess. So how much above square to the centre of the arrow nock was each position. Were you using a 'd-loop' and what was your d-loop nocking points configuration?

Do you think any of this really matters a damn?

Thanks 2Dogs. This is my 3rd 600, but have not done since June.
Insatiable 3.

I was playing with my Protour tune between rounds Jim. First was at 3/8" above square and the second at 1/4" above.

Marcus did you still get clearance at 1/4"?

I find I have to go to 3/8" to get clearance on my Allegiance using SS1.

Cheers Foxy.

First tests with the Protours said I wasn't getting contact, but I was with the indoor arrows, so jury is still out. I think I'll end up being a touch higher.

so you shot a 300 @ 3/8"" above, and 300 @ 1/4"" above, if I read you correctly, so sounds like the nocking point is not REALLY critical.

How did you manage to get the first arrow in the 10 after moving your nocking point? Did you have a 'sighter' and is that allowed, or did you just know from experience how much to adjust your sight?

Anyway, good shooting, well done. :thumb:

They were different rounds so I reset my sight again.

Shot a third 300 on Friday night without a sighting end, straight in cold.

I've never felt nocking point was critical, certainly does not give me a vertical grouping. Aiming high some shots and low on others tends to do that though. ;)

Make you sick, I can't even get a 290 when I'm hot.

Maybe it's easier to shoot 300 in Victoria. I might come over there and join DVA, and become a top archer, tell them all it was Marcus' idea.

The key is that we shoot HEAPS of indoor. Most other clubs turn up, shoot 1-2 rounds then go home and that's it for the week. It's not uncommon for a few of us to shoot 12-16 rounds in a week. I've seen Renae put down 6 rounds in one night. For me I think 4 is the most, but usually 2 a night 3-5 days a week.

Indoor takes a while to learn, so 2 rounds a week will just mean it takes alot longer.

This is true...

When I was shooting indoor well, I was shooting lots of it.

Indoor really is it's own game. Far different from outdoor target or field.

Nice shooting Marcus :thumb:
