Seem you NZ people are kinda part timers, just because it gets a wee bit cold, wet or snowy you pack up all your gear and head indoors with the sheepskin rug and the scrabble. What's all that about. Surely at least you should be organising 'constant' indoor activity, sheep free zone style, 18m and 25m, during the cold dark winter days/nights.
I thought NZ was the extreme capital of the world, still waiting on a FITA star tournament at the top of Mt. Cook, or the bottom of Stewart Island.
C'mon you NZ archers, pull your socks up.

Don't like indoors, don't care. The indoor nat is enough.

kinda agree we need to shoot more over this time. i know in wellington atleast the weather no worse then the rest of the year so no reason we cant compete outside.
as Jay.G said indoor nationals is enoguh indoor. i dont think many nz archer would travel to shoot indoor events.

Look on the bright side, at least Jim's 6000 kilometres away. Imagine how much worse it'd be if he was in the same country as us or *gasp* the same city! :o

I'm starting to see an Auckland negativity thing here. I don't understand why you're shooting calendar doesn't go the full year, like in Australia, weather is not that bad, sure it gets dark early in winter, but hey, start earlier, 12 noon for instance. Think this is a throwback to a pommy land influence, and eating too much fush and chups. Any sensible Christchurch or Dunedin people care to comment. IMO South Island is so much better, more Scottish. ;)

Take it easy Jim,
in Oz, we don't have a shoot every weekend, especially one that doesn't involve 12 hrs straight driving

Don't know quite where the dinger you're coming from Jim - we still shoot in winter, and use the time to run events such as our club championships, junior events, etc.

That's great news, I thought you kinda shut down in the winter. In WA we shoot all year long, club shoots every week except for a 2 week break at Christmas and some don't even do that.
Everyone of you NZ guys seems to be from Auckwardland.
Any AF regulars from Christnotanotherchurch or Dunedinburgh?
Do they get the internet there?

Here in Gisborne we shoot all year round the club own a hall that was built for archery it is 30m long, we meet 3 times a week last year we hosted 4 major indoor tournaments over winter as well as other events.
So some of us don't shut down over winter, next time you are in NZ we look to seeing you Jim

We shoot all year round here in the Manawatu. We use a scout hall when its too windy or pouring down. We kinda need a new hall for indoor shooting though :)
