Hi All,

I've just spent a rather annoying hour and a half searching through various Uni webpages looking for contact emails to write to to inform them of the upcoming event.

I got frustrated by it all, and so, any Uni in SA, VIC, WA, TAS have not been sent the email I have sent to the QLD and NSW uni's.

The content of the email is as below
----
Dear [Insert Uni sporting organisation],

The University of Sydney is holding a Australian Universities Archery Tournament (unofficial to Australian University Sport competition) on the 17th and 18th July.

We would like to know a rough estimate of numbers at your university who may be interested in participating the event, for planning purposes.

[Optional if they don't have a Archery Club listed] Since it is not listed on the sports clubs website, we don't know if you have any archers at UQ, but we would like to extend the invite to those who may be at UQ, and who would like to represent UQ at this competition.

The preliminary details.

Where : The University of Sydney, Sydney, NSW, Australia
When: 17th and 18th July (during Winter Vacation)
How much: Entree fee no more than $30/ day (dependant on numbers)
What: 17th July - Geelong (30m with 122cm target face, 90 arrows)
18th July - Either a) Short Canberra (30m, 40m, 50m, 122cm target face, 30 arrows each distance)
b) Adelaide (30m, 40m 80cm target face, 50m, 60m 122cm target face, 30 arrows each distance)
Additional Details :There will be *NO* food provided at the events, however there are cafes and restaurants in easy walking distance from the venue.
Accommodation : Competitors will have to find their own accommodation for the duration of their stay.

Please email <ikk@student.usyd.edu.au> with your name and contact details if interested in competing in this event, before the 30th May.

If you could please through whatever means available, relay this information to the members of the sports union that do archery, it would be greatly appreciated.

In thanks

Now, if you know of people in those states who don't visit this forum and read about the competition, and are a good samaritan with this ideal for a competition, please send the details I have given above.

The reason is that if I can get a rough number by the 30th, we can work out the exact entry costs etc and post the registration details by the first week June, leaving time for entries and other organisation.

And if you are at other uni's in QLD and NSW, and you don't get this information through other sources, then it's good that I've posted it here.

:)

Thanks All,

Flehrad,
Thanks for posting that on here. UQ and QUT don't have an archery club. Neither do Griffith or James Cooke. I've heard that UQ used to have one but it wasn't popular enough and so was canned. Apparently that was before the advent of the internet as we know it! :) I would like to come as the only representative of QUT but unfortunately can't afford it. Thanks for posting though!
