Hi guys. My son has just bought a set of mid-range W&W carbon limbs to fit to his KAP Winstar 11 riser, which was originally fitted with a set of entry-level standard laminate limbs and dacron string.
Problem: the whole bow vibrates like fury when he shoots the new carbon limbs. I don't mean limb imbalance-type vibration that can be sorted by tuning, but what is an almost low-frequency "buzzing" that seems to originate with the bowstring and carry through the riser. Like the riser has become a "sounding board" to the vibrating string. It's very uncomforable and disconcerting for my son and happens with a fast string as well as the dacron.
The new limbs are fine and shoot very well, without vibration, on more expensive risers we have tried. Meanwhile a borrowed A-bomb and doinker are helping to supress the problem to a certain extent.
Anyone had a similar experience and if so, know of a remedy?
The Winstar is a very nice entry-level riser, but with progress to good-quality carbon limbs, maybe it's simply time to upgrade the riser as well.
We'd be glad of feedback from those with the techical experience in this area. Thanks.
