Jim, what will the process be for team selection?

Rob,
At a recent AA Board meeting the Board did approve the selection process for the World Target for 2009. This was (as I understand it) largely along lines recommended by the Elite Compound Program committee to the Selection committee, but I have not yet seen the Board comments on the matter. As soon as I do I will ensure that it is circulated.
So far the Board and Selection committee have not looked at selection for the Commonwealth Games, but I would anticipate that it would be similar.

Broadly, what we suggested is along the lines of:
- Selection only from competition FITA scores (we suggested the Nationals and the Australia Day tournaments).
- That is, no matchplay in the selection at all.
- Two positions to be selected like that with the third position at the discretion of the Selection committee.
- A qualifying score level for FITA rounds of 1350, but with that score level escalating each time we get sufficient archers qualifying at each 10 point step above that. That is, if we had, for example, 5 men getting sufficient scores over 1380 then the qualifying score would become 1380, not 1350.

The papers that I wrote on this topic and which Jim Larven circulated are the background to this selection process.
