Pat Coghlan, Rob Timms and Brendan Wallace head to Santo Domingo this Sunday for the 1st World Cup event for 2008. As noted elsewhere, these three filled the top three places in the Nationals Target that finished today, and each of them shot excellently. It is a very strong team.
Gerry Phipps and Les Woods have kindly offered an incentive for these three to do well in the event. They have offered a sizable incentive should any of them obtain an individual place in the event and another should they obtain a team place. Thank you Gerry and Les, the Elite Compound Program very much values your kind support in pushing our archers to a very high standard..

Let's hope that Pat, Rob and Brendan get amongst and show the rest of world what Aussies are capable of. Best of luck for the team! :)
It's also great to hear about Gerry Phipps and Les Woods offering some incentives for the elite compound program. I sincerely hope that their investment will be acknowledged and appreciated by all concerned and rewarded with some high standard performances.
Go get 'em Aussies! :thumb:

I took Deonne to Melbourne Airport this morning at 6am.
The three compound men plus Deonne fly to Sydney, then Los Angeles, then Miami, then Santo Domingo. The recurvers join in Sydney.
Pat, Rob and Brendan left Morwell at about 3.30am this morning after the Nationals, so it is quite a long trip.

Kick butt guys! And thanks to Gerry and Les for their offer. It's fantastic to see individuals helping out our archers like this. Les's contributions to elite archery have been largly unseen, but have made a significant difference to the increase in overall performance of archery in Australia in the last few years.

Yep, special thanks to Les and Gerry. :thumb:
They've both been assisting archery behind the scenes for a few years - and looking at their archery gear I suspect archery dealers have also benefitted! :D
Gerry's also a fun travelling companion, simply top him up with cappuccino every 2 hours. If cupboards had ears a certain set of clubroom cupboards should have spontaneously combusted ... ;)

Unless you are in Perth, don't you mean tomorrow morning our time? We are presently 15 hours in front of Santo Domingo on NSW/Vic/Tas time.

However I prefer FITA's approach of not recognising equal records; it really highlights the setting a new benchmark, not simply repeating what has been done before.
I would like AA would do that, and also would like AA to use the X count for records when possible if a perfect score has been reached. There are 7 Men's Compounders who so far hold the AA Tournament record for 30m. :silly:

By changing the angle of the blade you can fine tune the blade stiffness. I also believe Clint Freeman is doing it at the moment.:thumb:
