so winter is drawing in and snow and heaps and heaps of rain are imminant and out comes the Scrabble and Wouldn't Have A Cleudo, board up the doors and windows and hope the fridge and knitting cupboard are packed up 'til October.

Winter in NZ

tell me about your archery during this time, archery downhill in the snow, best field course in southern hemi, sux gold at 90m on the frozen lake, oh...........'treme archery, way to go, 3D course, frozen deer, possum, kiwi...take home what you shoot. Why do you close for winter and run indoors. Sounds a bit woosy. Please explain Sir Edmund (if he was an archer) wouldn't be sitting indoors in front of a wee fire, playing Scrabble or Wouldn't Have A Cleudo. You guy need to HTFU!!!
GET SERIOUS ABOUT YOUR ARCHERY.
Remember you are British.

We're plenty hard already, thanks. Like you're one to talk, you soft Aussie - you wouldn't last a week in an Otago winter! ;-)

 we stop shooting because its raining? That's new to me. Besides we're lucky enough to have a 50m indoor range down here. Down here it may be slightly cold but it's sunny and perfectly still..I'm going shooting.:thumb:

If I recall correctly, Jim grew up in Scotland. He may have survived a few cold winters ;)

Surprised he didn't move to Otago rather than WA then - they have a pretty similar climate to Scotland ;-)

Winter is a phenomena that occurs once a year in some parts of the world. During this period the temperature drops, sometimes enough for water to freeze into ice (that's the stuff you get in drinks sometimes). Sometimes this ice even falls like rain, which they tell us is Nature, but clearly it is lies and a communist plot, for how can it have got up there in the first place?
The main purpose of winter is to give old farts like Jim and 2Dogs something to reminisce amount from when they were young. Otherwise it serves no discernable purpose.

Winter has been declared illegal in the US states of Alabama and Kansas. In Texas two out of every four rednecks surveyed did not know what winter was, and one of the remainder thought it only happened in Yoorup and Soviet Russia.

More people ***** and moan about how they had to walk 20 miles through the snow to school every day...
The ice cubes for the last batch of Pimm's came from Liquorland down the road (when I realised that the white thing we have at work with cold inside doesn't have _enough_ cold inside for ice). It was still summer, so clearly winter isn't required for the production of ice - lucky really, since you don't need it then.

I believe that we in Tauranga Archers only missed 8 sundays in two years due to poor weather,
