Amber, we all get the beginner etc as we post. There are a handful of characters who get a personal moniker but they are few and far between. Generally they are given for services rendered to the forum by Marcus himself.

Well, that's what he told Mr Kleenex. :D

And compounders rule. Ask your dad!

As Dad? :o

I'm too busy deciding which bow to shoot from week to week let alone to see who 'rules' - This week will it be compound or b/bow recurve or longbow??? Hmmm - depends what's on the calendar and who is shooting.

I stopped the recurve with sights thing some years back but recently tried it again and was very pleased with the result - probably all that back tension stuff used for compound that got rid of some of my recurve bad habits.

I reckon - as long as you have a bow in your hand, it is just pure pleasure from that point on. :P

If the sun comes up, it must be time to go shooting, if the sun goes down, somebody turn the lights on! 8)

You could almost pass that quote off as 4th Century Chinese if it were not for the reference to electricity. :D

FITA this Saturday or Sunday?

Although I of course try to keep the fact a secret, just as I try not to mention that I like clout too often either. 8)

My bow is pretty long 41.5 inches, is that long enough for a long bow?? and I like it. 8)

And I don't know what clout is.

Hi Amber

How long has your club been set up?

I used to live down the hill at Boya and went to Governer Stirling.

You guys shoot up on Ridge Hill Road don't you?

I was at GS in the 70's

There is some serious scores coming out of your leagues over there.

I have been following them with interest as my daughter will be shooting U16G recurve at the Juniors

G'day Flame ...

Like Amber said - our club is a merger of 2 clubs - the Governor Stirling Archers that originally started at the local high school of the same name in 1972 and has been going ever since, and the Kalamunda Archery club which started about 19 years ago and has also been going ever since.

Both clubs merged about 3-4 years ago to become the Kalamunda Governor Stirling Archers and we use the original Kalamunda Archery Club site on Ridge Hill Road.

As a side info - The Governor Stirling club was originally formed from 40 students and 5-6 adults after the school offered archery as one of the sporting options available for the first time. I was one one of the original students and am the last original member in the club, :new-alien: closely followed by Carol Harvey who joined as an adult member shortly after the club was formed and then a few years later by Jim Barlas and John Turner both of whom still shoot on a regular basis. The longest serving club member originally from the Kalamunda Archery Club front is Daniel (Neil) Trout.

Just over a year ago, our club peaked at a membership of around 65 and we currently have about 40-45 members ranging in age from 10 - 72 years.

Thanks for that Bill.

Missed the Archery at GSSHS by a year it looks like - Cadets were a big thing.

Spent a lot of my childhood riding a pushbike up the switchback to Kalamunda - wish I was that fit now.

Been over here in VIC for 20 years but get back occasionally.
Family still lives down the hill in Boya.

Next time I am over I must bring the bow and come and have a shoot with you.

Sure thing Flame - it will be good to catch up and shoot a round or two.

I'm new to the forum and this is my first post. I think the beginner to grandmaster name is something like an avatar, which it changes as you post more topics or replies.
