This is a thread not about a PB score but a thread more about starting to FINALLY see some results in the changes to my form.

Well about a year ago I was sick off trigger punching and not holding steady. I happened when I shot a PB 398 ABA round in the morning off a comp then a PW 372 later in the day. My trigger punching and innconsistancy was just too much to take anymore so from then on I went about trying to change my form to get good biomechanics.

I went to changing my grip, my draw legnth, my anchour, my string off my face and most off all changing from trigger release to back tension ( Carter Evolution ).

Its been a long year and ive been adjusting all these things as I go and going with what feels comfortable but making sure my biomechanics are correct aswell.

Well on Sunday I shot a Canberra round, 60m, 50m, 40m on a 122cm face.
On my 2nd last end at 50m it all started to come together. I started to hold almost dead still :o
I couldnt believe it as I watched my pin sit on the x ring and my release go off without me thinking about it.
I felt so comfortable and it was showing with a 1 inch group at 50m :o
Then a few 2 inch groups.
I was gob smacked!!!!! :silly:

Unfortunately it was a windy day and I was lucky to have about 4 ends without wind but the rest was gusty and sometimes I even got pushed off the target. My score wasnt that good but I didnt care as I had this moment off glory :D

Finally I feel so more relaxed and comfortable and its finally given me the erge to get fully stuck into practicing.
So overall Im stoked to finally have that feeling of acheieving a consistant form and I can now go shoot a **** load of arrows and get better :D

I feel that shooting this Carter Evolution has made this possible for me as its taught me to be more consistant with my form and not just punch the shot off.

Im glad I took my time with this release aid and have learnt to use it properly instead of just ripping through it. Ive had that many (let downs) with this release aid because I didnt want to get into the habbit of making a bad shot because it wasnt going off.
Anyone who has seen me shoot or got stuck behind me at a shoot knows how much I let down and im sorry for all that but things look like there on the up :thumb:

Man That took forever to write :D

It really is amazing how it happens, just like flicking on a switch.
I remember practicing 90 one day, aiming within the red on a reasonable day. The next day, BAM, holding in the gold. I was like... uh ok, wtf? o.o

I love those moments of enlightenment when it suddenly seems to make sense.
Keep on working Eddie, it's only just started.

Nice work Eddie!

Sometimes changes are hard to implement, especially if they're undoing ingrained habits - but the good changes are sure worthwhile!

Nice work Eddie, and I wasn't there to see it happen.
As you know I have just changed to a back tension release and I have a way to go before I settle and feel in control. As soon as I switched I realized that I had been punching the trigger all the time with my previous release aids.
We hope you (and little Miss Pink) come back to our club soon.

Well its still working so far. I havent been practicing ( been working away from home ) but my form is holding up well.
The last 2 weekends were good ones for shooting. I shot a Canberra round 2 weeks ago and smashed my PB. 842 to 860.
i didnt start really well and I wasnt really steady but good enough to beat my old PB by alot :D
Last weekend I managed to better it by 2 points to get a new PB of 862 :D
Both were shot in perfect conditions so there not amazing scores but very good for me.
I was very happy with my 295 out of 300 at 40m :D
Things look like there on the up ;)

Funny thing is with the 862 I felt like I wasnt shooting that well and I was dissapointed until I added up the score's :D

Few things are as empowering as knowing that you can do something.

Congratulations on:
1) Recognising the problem
2) Analysing its causes
3) Putting in the necessary effort to correct them
4) Seeing all the hard work pay dividends

Hmm. I should try that :silly:

Thanks mate.
Its funny how you wrote that. Sums it up exactly.
I wish I had only learnt all this from the start as I would probably be alot better by now.

But I spose that's the great thing about learning this way, the feeling of acheiveing better form over time by making mistakes and learning from them. It's probably more satisfying then getting coached right from the word go.

That is awesome Eddie. What you need to work on now is being able to get back into that zone at your beck and call.

Great information to share with others. It would give people who opunch soem hope that there is an alterative to punching and it's possible to go from being a puncher to somebody who either squeezes or uses the consistent pull of the back to get the shot of.

Well Done Eddie for persisting with the evo :thumb:
