I remember last year at the State Indoor, two days prior I fell down the stairs at school (I swear to God that my Italian teacher [whom hates me with a passion because I locked her in the classroom, by accient] pushed me) and must have bruised my right shoulder.
Now, at the time I was only FOURTEEN and had only been shooting compound bow for seven months. I had also brought myself a brand new compound boy three-four weeks prior to the State indoor (if memory serves me correct).
Since I had turned fourteen in the June of last year, I was supposed to be U/14's (intermediate), but I took the advice of a member of my club and put myself down as Junior (U/18's) which put me against eighteen year olds.
I had no idea who I'd be shooting against, well, actually I did.
I didn't know about the catagories, so I thought it was all teens-on-teens and all the "old-farts" against each other. :P
Okay, I'm getting off track... Lol.
ANYWAY, I rocked up at Mitsubishi (that how it's spelt? I got no idea), saw my ex coach (Carol Hooper) gave her the biggest hug, set up and started shooting next to Chantelle, Sonja and Kate.
I was petrified, I mean, I'd been shooting next to, and getting along quite well with Chantelle Trip for six months prior, and we're still alright friends, so I had a bit more confidence and relaxed.
People said "just treat it like a normal shoot" and the truth is; it's a billion times easier than just a practise shoot. Compition was easier!!!!
So, I rock up, shoot a personal best (481 [yeah, it might not be a GREAT score, but I was damn proud of it]) and about three-quarter way through I started complaining to my grandfather and Chantelle about my back and shoulder REALLY hurting, and they recommended I drop out, but I ain't a quitter!!!
So, I go home, and spend the next few days just not worrying about archery, and on the following Wednesday (I think) I find out that I was up against three (or was it four?) EIGHTEEN year olds, and had come THIRD so I was damn proud!!!
So, I spent the next few months shooting, and gradually went quite poo, and my shoulder just started hurting way to much, and found out I had a Bursa (or something of the like) and was told to take it easy.
Now, I'm just relaxing and having an extended break from archery, but since going to the Plympton facility and seeing people shoot like they did, I realised I missed archery, so now I'm coming back!!!
And hopefully better than before.
So yeah, just thought I'd vent. :P
So yeah, congradulations to the people who did well in the recent State and National indoor championships this year.
