I would really love to get into it for marked right now until I got used to the unmarked distances for specific animals. Think I still have some old arrow placement cards for McKenzie targets. Either way yeah I'd be interested for sure

Can I just ask what the point of a MARKED 3D shoot would be???

You may as well just shoot normal field.

And what is the big thing about 3D any way???

Will the animals have fake blood in them too? If so, I'll come and shoot your little round....he he he  Do I have to wear camouflage? Do I need to drag my knuckles along the ground between targets?

Mike , I have been to a couple of AA events this year and I wouldn't be so quick to make remarks about knuckle draggers if I were you !!

Marcus , Did you see that IBO are allowing full stabilisers now not just 12 inch as the past . When are you thinking of holding this event .

It should be unmarked , but maybe tell the beginners at 3 d that the target is somewhere between x-y, it may get some people interested then . I find it always hard to get back into judging the distances for the first 5-6 targets.

Marked 3D, while not my 'cup of tea' (get it Bruce?) is attractive to those who are put off by unmarked. Remember there are many in AA who want to dump unmarked field.
Also agree with Bruce, the tea drinkers are dragging their knuckles these days. Ah the good old days when the lines between ABA and AA were clearer. :)
3D is good, I enjoy it alot. Not as hunting practise, rather as something different to the same old round targets. The scoring zones are not as defined and animal angles make it tough sometimes.
I'll talk it over with Luke and see if we have an open hint division. I like you suggestion of letting people know it's between 2 distances Bruce.

Bruce, I did see that rule, it's for BU isn't it? Kinda a pitty I think because part of the challenge of BU is the short rod. As for timing, not sure, will arrange with Luke and Steve. Will be informal with basic prizes. Just want to get out and shoot it. :) BTW we hold a 3D every month if you are interested in the drive.

Geez Bruce and Marcus, where's the sense of humor gone??? :o

I recall you getting stuck in to Luke on another thread Marcus... :P

Tea and scones next to be served in Moe -- State Indoor!!

Come to think about it, I can't remember any AV shoots with the sweet smell of English Breakfast wafting down the line!!

Perhaps we should admit to it Marcus...the colonial days are over....the natives are rising...field archery in all its forms is taking over.

Lets hear it for Gold, Red, Blue, Black and White -- will we ever see that face again...

I'm still gidding around, just imagine a big beefy knuckle dragging neadethal saying "oh no, only one lump in my Celon Tea thank you old chap"

Nah at our club we are trying to revive it, the rainbow faces have been dominating!!

Hi all,

I do seriously hope mike, that there is not even a hint of seriousness about your first comments in this thread!

If you were indeed genuinely joking, then I shall supply you with only half a laugh......joke or not, it is precisely this sort of attitude that leads to division amongst archers here, and solidarity is what we need the most! Respect for all disciplines of archery, regardless if it is your chosen form should be foemost in your mind if you care about the sport at all!

A little joke here and there is of course fun, and I will freely admit jesting abou "tea drinkers and knuckle draggers", but one should be carefull how public comments could be percieved when placed on a forum.

now, to climb off my soap box.........

Thanks for bringing up the 3D topic Marcus! Of course you know that I would wholeheartedly support the idea of setting up a 3Dshoot at DVA for both AA/AV and ABA archers to participate in. If the results of the poll indicate that there is a contingent of people who would like to shoot the round marked, or hinted, I'd be only to happy to oblige to give people a look at what 3D is like. Of course I encourage the unmarked round, but for a first time "look" and to minimise the risk of losing arrows etc......why not?

Cheers,

Luke. :D

Hi Bruce,

Hows it going? I haven't been around much over the last couple of months, it's been insanely busy for Hayley and I, but I think we are getting back on track a little now. I've got a bit of a venture starting which hopefully will be manageable once it settles.

How 'bout you? will you come and shoot a "mixed" 3D round with us :)

Cheers,

Luke.

I am sorry for any offence my above comments may have caused...

I hoped the strategic use of the 'emoticons' would give people the idea, but...

My oh my, it is a serious world we live in these days...
