I'm interested in archey. I was a few years ago when I used to go around the golf course with my old man.
Anyway, what do I need to get started? How much do the fees cost, a bow etc..
Regards,
Craig.....

Hi Craig.
I forwarded on your email to our president regarding the course. Sometimes he's a bit slack in getting back to people but I'll keep on him.
We run a beginners course which is about $10 a week and goes for about 6 weeks I believe. After that costs vary depending on what type of shooting you wish to do and how seriously you get hooked. Like golf you can do it cheaply or spend a fortune.
Fees are good compared to golf. However i don't want to quote you. Luke should know the answer. You pay a one off fee per year and then shoot as much as you want.
Equipment wise if you want a target bow with sights, release aid etc you can get fitted out with new gear for under $1000 in total, maybe cheaper.
It's late in the evening, however if you can make it down on Saturday nd Sunday there is almost always someone there who can un you through some things. We also shoot indoor on Wednesday night from about 7pm so you can come down then too.

Welcome Craig! :D
I'm glad you could make it!
Marcus is right about the course @ $10 a week, and we'll get on it!
The fees are a once off joining fee of $80, with an annual DVA membership fee of $92. You must also join either one of our governing bodies ABA or AV, depending on whether you chose to shoot field or target. To join ABA will cost you $62 including a joining fee and one years subscription. (I think if you join now, the fee might be slightly less, as the membership year is about halfway through). To join AV costs $95 per year. (I'm not sure if there is a joining fee involved for AV).
If all of that doesn't make sense I apologise - it's getting late:)
When you come down to the club for the begginners course, we can explain it all to you then.
About equipment, Marcus is spot on - you can pretty much spend as little or as much as you like on gear, from a couple of hundred for a basic compound without sights or release aid up to a couple of grand for something pretty special with sights, release aid etc.
Use this as a guide, but you will get valuable insights, and a first hand look at the equipment when you visit for the introductory course.
...anyway, Luke signing off and going to bed! :D

I forgot to give you credit Luke, for giving me the idea and all the info.
Thanks Marcus for your reply. :)
I am looking forward to a reply when I contacted the DVA using the contact form.
Good night.

I talked to David and he said he replied but it might be a weird reply. (old people :rolleyes )
I'll post some more info on here. We should have a calendar on beginner course dates online. That would be good.
