Well i have succumb to my urge to buy a LONGBOW
and it's a lot different to the compound that i normally shoot. :o

So seening this is the section for Mastering Archery, any tips
you could give (form wise) would be gratefully received.

Being as I didn't even start my archery life with a recurve,
i imagine this will be hard!
but hopefully a bit of fun as well

cheers

Just don't hold it as long as you would compound!

i suggest releasing away and down from your face, then putting your hand on your shoulder to finish!!!! it works a treat for me sometimes and i hear that is how clare the immortal releases

If you get proper back tension! Just like you would compound & recurve then your hand should fly back anyway! :P

i remember reading a post about that back tension thing, isn't that were you get your shoulder blades to touch each other like holding in a fart?

Whatever you do don't raise your longbow in the air highland style while standing under a fluro light.

I didn't , but Ian Bradshaw from Eden field archers did !
Made a nice clean hole just like the ACE I put thru our lounge window from inside & embedded itself in our front brush fence :-?
She who must be obeyed not at all happy :(
I referred to is as the "glass test" :o
Arrow was undamaged other than the vanes stripped off!
Any similar stories anyone ?

I think putting an arrow through a TV set takes the cake. My total damage bill was about $10. A TV set, well be glad it wasn't plasma!

Triffle Jack has a good story of almost putting an X10 into his ex's Dad's WRX.

I put a nice little hole in our lounge room window with one of the kids bows. The arrow embedded in the wooden frame on the fly screen.

I was trying to check the draw length, it was when the kids first started.
