Archers,
Have any of you experimented with determining your ability to align sights/target?
For this exercise, you will need a fixture that holds the bow motionless, and at full draw. You will need a target butt and a backing paper upon the butt. You will need a target with a reinforced center. I have used heavy tape on the reverse side for strengthening. Determine the exact center of the "X" and punch a small hole through the center of the "X".
In your holding fixture, draw the bow to its draw length. Now you need an assistant. While you look through your sights and not disturbing the bow in any way, have the assistant , while you align your sights as perfectly as possible, center the target with your sight alignment. When centered, call mark to the assistant. He will then make a dot on the backing paper through the hole in the target face.
Do this for a group of 5-10 "shots". Then examine the results.
This exercise may be done at any distance. For convenience, start at 18M/20yds. You don't have to yell so loud!
Note: Some archers align sights much better than others! Practicing this will help develop the archer's ability to align sights/target.
