I'd like to know people's thoughts on the news that The doo sung "Olympian" shaft has been forced by the IOC to change it's name. Bearing in mind it's the same IOC that Jim Easton is on. Why is it that the IOC dosn't have a problem with the Arten Olympic sight. Maybe because Easton don't make sights. They are great arrows from all reports and I think this muscle flexing from Jim Easton will only aid in their rise
What do people think ?

I don't think it's as much a conspiracy as that. The IOC has long gone after companies using the Olympic name and yes I agree that Jim Easton may have pushed it because they are competiting. However I think he would've done that regardless of the quality of the arrow. Easton doesn't use Olympic on their shafts so it's a valid complaint.
However I am looking forward to companies such as Doo Sung and Carbon Tech pushing Easton, hopefully they will become more competitive price and quality wise.

I'm not sure how you get on to the IOC, or how James Easton got on there, but it can only be good to have an archery manufacturer on the IOC because that way at least archery has a hope of being promoted within the IOC (at least Easton might have the money for all the bribes that are required to get anything done in the IOC :P )

As I understand it, it is standard practive that the IOC never lets the word "Olympic" be used by manufacturers, etc. There are a few exceptions, but I think they are firms of very long standing.
FITA itself had to abandone the term "Olympic Bow" because of an IOC demand (personally I was pleased with that one, because it demeaned compounds).

James, It does seem a little odd that nobody has a problem with the Arten "Olympic" sight

Yes, I would think that the IOC would ask them to change it if someone pointed it out to them. The IOC does seem to be rather possessive of its terminology.

:D Bring it on!!!! If Doo Sung have to change the name of their shaft, are we thinking that maybe someone is just a little worried???? They are, as so many of you have attested, a great shaft!! at a very good price. Let's just see how long it takes Easton to reduce the price of the ACE's and X10's

As they say, any publicity is after all PUBLICITY!! Maybe Easton or the IOC need to send them an invoice for the advertising!!!
