View Full Version : Raffle!!
Just had a thought would it be worth having a raffle for a new Hoyt bow
when they are released? $10 a ticket or so..200 tickets
Just an idea about the only chance I would have of getting one before
the next series come out :)

Nice idea - not sure how many would pony up $10 per ticket though (I would, but many wouldn't).
Maybe cheaper tickets, and more of them?
Sell them over a period of some months at shoots etc to get members from ohter clubs buying tickets?
Interesting concept, certainly a worthwhile prize :D
...makes a change from the club raffles with 2 buck chuck on the table, and someone's grandma's old doilies
Just thought $10 a ticket only need to sell 200 odd.Just an idea though hey
for $5 a ticket I could still keep the odds the same buy 2 :D

I'd be buying more than 2

If it was for your choice of Hoyt, I would buy a few.

Archery Academy sold off Raffle tickets for your choice of hoyt (compound ..recurve) at the Australian Indoor.
It was $2 a ticket and they sold bucket loads of them

This isa very good idea!
Your choice of Hoyt would be the way to go, but what if somebody wants something different?
How 'bout something like DVA buys a $1500 gift voucher for Urban Archery, then raffles it off?
That way, the person gets to choose what they want in archery gear :D
At $x bucks a ticket, as long as you specify a minimum ticket sales level, you'd raise some good money for the club.

This is a neat idea, and could be something for the club to look at. Would have to be run over a fair bit of time to make sure enough were sold.

Yes good idea as a fundraiser. Just decide how many tickets are to be sold then draw when they are all sold.

I like Alan's idea on this one, and Urban is seriously considering doing just what is suggested. Will let you all know.

If the club could organize a price with the store that's somewhere between cost and retail then I think both parties could win. If you want to sell to other clubs then I'm sure a ticket price around the $2 to $5 mark would sell like hot cakes - very popular hot cakes.
I know I'd buy a few at that price for sure, Chopper most likely would too.
Sorry to butt in on your club discussion - you can tell me to piss off now if you like. 8)

OK - piss off
....nah - thanks for the input - everybody welcome :bday:
...just like the old saying goes:

Nah that's cool.
I think if you did 1000 tickets at $2 a ticket and the raffle was drawn when they were sold then it would work pretty well. I think most would buy 5 tickets at least if a bow was on offer.

At two bucks a ticket with a prize like that, I reckon I'd be buying a minimum of ten tickets - probably more like twenty+ over the course of the raffle!
I reckon each week, I'd think - just another couple won't hurt

$20 gives you a one in a hundred chance of winning a bow or whatever. Pretty effing good odds. If you don't win the money goes into a club thats getting things done for archery. It's win-win.

I've been having a think.....
Anyway - this is a great idea, but maybe only having one prize limits people's chances of winning a little bit?
What about...
1st Prize $1250 gift voucher for Urban Archery
2nd Prize $500 gift voucher for Urban Archery
3rd Prize: $250 gift voucher for Urban Archery
Commit to selling, say 1000 tickets before the raffle is drawn, at say $3.00 each?
Total cost of prize pool is $2000, ticket sales = $3000
People get an even better chance to win an awesome prize. Tickets remain affordable, and DVA raises $1000 to go back into the club!
Anyway, just some Friday afternoon thoughts..... :bday:

More inclined to say
1st: Hoyt compound or Win and Win recurve
2nd: Cartel Triples
3rd: Zenith release

What about a similar raffle down the track to raise money for the World Field team? Just a thought.
Put me down for a few tickets (like 1 million  ). Although would prefer an AeroTec to W&W. :D

We are thinking about doing that too Aarleks.
Prices not set (raffle not set either, will have to look into gaming laws. )

Great Idea but Shouldent it be
1st: Cartel Triples or Win and Win recurve
2nd: Zenith release
3rd: Hoyt compound
I prefer the gift voutcher Idea and perhaps more than one retailer could get involved.

3rd: Hoyt compound
I think just keeping it to one retailer, makes things nice and simple.
Luck? I had none of that last night, Luke.

Luck? I had none of that last night, Luke.
That's right mate, start looking for a recurve
...nah - that's OK, I don't count beating somebody who puts their nocks in upside down as a win - besides, the way I was shooting Friday night I didn't even deserve to hit the butt.
When your gear is all sorted out we'll start keeping a tally :bday:

Only those that suck at indoor say it doesn't count. True test of accuracy (I say this because it's the only game I don't suck at right now)

Nope, sorry mate - Indoor counts, 3D counts, Field counts, Target counts .....
Face it, you're screwed :D

I did abit of research on Raffle Rules. As a sporting body with prizes under
$5,000 no worries.Only strange rule is Ticket sales must be no greater than 6 times or less than twice the value of the prize/s.Guess the only down side would be the club has to make more money :) 3 months to sell
tickets MAX.
I d/loaded the PDF doc from the Gambling Vic site 352k if anyone wants a look.

So if we assume $1500 voucher/bow then enough tickets to tahe $3000 would be a goo way to start.
What about 600 $5 tickets raffle drawn when all sold??
