"At the end of the day, I decided to perform a test, where I loosened the retaining screw, didn't make any adjustments, tightened it again, and saw my groups move by up to two inches at eighteen meters!"

That's not a good thing at all. Really makes you wonder what hey were thinking when they released it on the market.

Thanks for the comments Marcus,

You're right - it really does make you wonder what they were thinking!

But......I must say that I have been doing some research into pin sights recently because I have to replace the hunk of junk that is on my bow at the moment, and I have discovered that the new Hoyt MicroElite 2001 model seems to have been released with steel pins instead of the dodgy plastic, and a new pin frame tightening system!

These were two of the main faults with the 2000 model that I have just reviewed, so it seems that more people than just myself may have found it to be unsatisfactory.

I'd love to get a first-hand look at the new MicroElite model, and hope that Hoyt have really done something to redeem themselves! :)

Well te gteat thing about companies like Hoyt is that if they screw up they usually fix it. What does this sight cost out of interest?

I don't really know what the MicroElite costs out of this years catalogue, but I went shopping today at Werribee, and decided to look no further when I saw the shiny silver Hoyt Micro 3D pins in the cabinet!

They look really nice, with five nice fine glow dot steel pins, a nice long (long for pins anyway) sight bar, and a micro adjust feature which seems to work!

I just HAD to have it!:)

Anyway, to give you an idea, the Micro 3D was $245.00, and is one level above the MicroElite, so I guess the MicroElite would be just a touch less.

Interestingly enough, I paid $168.00 for a Hoyt 3D Supreme (the one on Hayley's bow) sight last year, that at the time was Hoyts top Pins, now replaced by the Micro 3D.

An increase in their top pin sight of $77.00! Maybe our current exchange rate isn't helping much, but still - a big increase in thwelve months!

All that's left is for me to shoot this new sight, and chuk the old one.

Look out for a review on the Micro 3D in the coming weeks!:D

Looking forward to seeing this beast. I've told Erika that I will not visit achery shops with the credit cards anymore, too many times things are there I have to have. :)

So which is better your new sight or Hayleys? I remember you saying hers was very good.

I don't know as yet about which is better, I think the micro adjust looks a bit better on the new one, the sight bar is the same length, pins very similar.

The scope mount on mine is pretty easily detachable, so it could be handy, but I guess I'd better shoot it before I pass Judgment:)

I will say that although this new Micro 3D sight does look a whole heap better than previous models, and I think it's the best pin sight I've ever seen - it is still a long way away from good target sights as far as quality is concerned. I think at $245.00 they're pretty cheeky!

Having seen this sight now I can see what you mean. For the money they came so close yet so far.
for those who wish to see it:

I love the adjustment, but I think the pins are too big, hard to aim with.
I rattles are just not a good thing. Look forward to you full review.
