i want to get an idea of average starting recurve pondages for junior ladies(12 yr olds). what did most people start with and how soon did they go up in poundage etc. did anyone start out with a poundage that was way to high? also, to those junior ladies out there what was the minimum poundage that you needed to get to 70m
thanks

ps i know poundage is subjective but there is not enough variety of limbs available to have a good tryout at diff poundages

hey
i have now been shooting for nearly 9 years, and have recently upped my poundage, but since i have only very short arms i am still only pulling about 28lbs, and that is with the increase, before that i was pulling 23 and i could reach 70 metres. i think that when i was 12 i pulled about 20? hope that helps.

I think about 20 sounds right! I would say no more than 25 for sure! Try a 20 - if it's too light then try something heavier but if the 20 is too heavy go for something lighter!

I agree, about 20-25 pounds...

if ya just learnt the sport, suggest doing formwork with a low poundage (a poundage that you can easily handle and shoot with for at least bout 144 arrows in a day), should be around 28lbs... the 70M, to "reach" that distance, it also depends on your setup (eg string, limbs n especially weight and FOC of your arrows); if you're using CT Sportsters with 70/80gr points, 36lbs ACTUAL weight should be enuf to reach 70M. But if they're X10s with 100/110gr tungsten points 38-40lbs should be fine...
if you have a short draw length suggest ya use a 64" bow so u can get the most poundage outta yr limbs...

4 me personally i shoot 44lbs (actual draw weight), not alot i'm only a lil' kid (14) anyway... more than enough to send my CTs to 90M... but X10s r real heavy, need at least 46lbs for decent flight to 90M...
