Server software

I am just curious to why this server wouldn't use Perl 5 with Ultimate BB or Ikonboard? Or maybe using V Bulletin with MySQL?

I am a Filemaker/Lasso developer and my server is setup for that system.
When I first put this board in there was just simple crap as BB software for Lasso so I have slowly been writing my own version based on those other boards.
It appears that I am slowly redesigning the wheel, but what I'm working on is probably the best feature set board in the Lasso community. Still far behind the PHP world but I'm catching :)
Filemaker is a little slow for this and next year when I move my server to OS X with Lasso 5 (not shipping yet) which has mySQL built in I will move to mySQL.

I'm also trying to keep everything on here as my own coding as an example of my work. Most of this site except for the forum is a bit dated though.
