Hey Marcus, do you know where to get weight specifications for carbonaeros? I can't find it at Easton...I'm thinking of them for 3D, so if their weight is comparible to ACE's I might do that....

Hey Luke
No they are a little heavier than an ACE. My 500's are 7.7 grains per inch. They were coming out of my bow at 248fps but I have since put the poundage up. There is a catalog at the club with the CarbonAeros in them. The Easton site is down so I can't check.
So far the only bad thing is that I need 2 different tunes on my bow for them and the Doo Sungs.
If you want to put some through the chrono with your bow you are more than welcome. I even have spare (no fletches though) if you wanted to try 3 out.

The weight thing doesn't seem too bad really, 7.7 gn per inch is OK for a 500, the ACE 520 (from memory) is 7.53?. Like you said, the Easton site is down so I cant check that...I think that is what the weight for 520's was.
I can afford to gain a little bit of weight, the CyberTec is doing 309fps with the 520's now, so a little extra weight shouldnt slow it down too much.
What is the value of the carbonaeros here, and who is stocking them?

Yeah, you can stand to lose a few FPS. :D
Bows Arrows Bits sell the and they cost around $11 each with nock and point. Check out the ACC conponants for them though.

Do the carbonaeros accept those lovely sharp ACC Hyperspeed points???:):), and what nocks? supernocks?
Marcus

Yeah I think I'm shooting the Hyperspeed points right now, not sure. They come with super nocks but I believe the uni bushing from a 3-60 ACC fits allowing G-nocks. This is something I plan on chasing up soon.

If they take the hyperspeed points, and a uni bushing for my G small nock, I will be very impressed......mmmmmmmmmmm maybe I need to go for a drive to weribbee

I'ld call first, not sure how many he has in stock, and you might want to get him to try the ACC parts to see if they fit. However for the money they are awesome, even just for practise so you don't break the ACE's.

Yep you can get the Hyperspeed points for them. 90 Gr
I bought mine last month.
I use the ACC uni bushings & a G nock. Damm good arrow for the price.
Mine weight 344 grains at 28 1/4 inch of carbon. I get 277 fps @ 60# out of the Hoyt Ultratec.
I use mine for 3D and Field........anywhere I don't want to bust up my Olympian's
I got some hyperspeeds for 3D last week, and they weight 306 Grains........getting 297 FPS with them. As you only shoot 1 arrow at 3D, I'm goin gto shoot them from now on.

Gday this is Grant Elsley.
Have you heard about the new arrows from Carbon Express. They are called CXL's.
They have a minimum shaft diameter of less then 9.3mm which meets the equipment rules of FITA.
They come in 3 sizes 150,250,350.
The weights are 6.2 grains for the 150's, 6.9 grains for 250's & 8 grains for 350's.
If you shoot say 29" at 55lbs you would shoot a 150.The point system is a 50 grain point with snap off weights that go up to 125 grains.
They would be good arrows for shooting 3D and indoors.especially if some one has a short draw or has a lighter draw weighted bow.
They are available from Casino Outdoors & Disposals.

Welcome one eyed recurve flinger............you got that Martin Aroura yet.
Yeah I've heard of them, but haven't seen them yet.
Maybe someone will have them at the 3D on the weekend.
See you there :P

Thanks for that info Grant, the carbon express arrows sound good......If I could get the 150's to work the weight factor would be excellent. What are the straightnesses and weight tolerances like on the carbon express arrows?
Cheers,
Luke :D

Gday Eberbachl
The staightness of the Carbon Express CXL arrow is +- .003.
The weight factor is +-1 grain.
The dozen i have just made up had 3/4 difference over the dozen.
I have been shooting for Carbon Express for 4 years now. In the beginning there was a bit of a various in the weights but the last 3 years it has been better then what they are surpose to be.
Last year i was shooting the CX selects which only had 1/4 of a grain difference over the dozen. Pretty impressive.

Hey Grant,
I'm looking at the specs of the CX 3D selects on the gametracker website. They look like a good shaft......what are the nocks like, and which points do you use, the target points or the "pig" points???
Cheers,
Luke. :D

I got some of the 400 Cheetahs and they are very impressive.
The 400 spine arrow weights in at 305 grains for a 28 1/2 inch arrow & 90gr point.
My Safari 55/70 with same hardware = 334 gr, Epic 400 with 90gr point 344 gr, Hyperspeed with 80 gr point = 306 gr
Got them rigged up with 90gr ACC hyperspeed points and G nocks.
They are dam straight .0015" and are sold in a spine matched dozen. Got an email from Rick McKinney saying they are matched in a dozen for spine +- .005.
This is the same toloerance for X10's ACE's.........first time an all carbon arrow is being sold in a spine matched DZ.
Cost $186 DZ AUS.
These arrows are very tough. Been smaking them together into Layered Stramit all week and nothing busted.
They're marketing material says they are 6.1 & 6.4 grains per inch for the 525 & 400 models. in reallity the 400 are 6.6 per inch.
Worth having a look at I feel. Adam Richards shot his 557 IFAA 2 weeks ago using the 525 model.............so they group tight

Thanks for that Paul, light, straight and cheap.....this is turning out to be a big melting pot of good options.
I like the look of the CX 3D selects, very popular in the US, I think I'm gonna have to get a set to try for 3D. Good looking tolerances, matched in sets of 12, around 7gn/inch for my size, good looking flush fit break off points, and an inline nock system somewhat reminiscent of Easton's pin nock???

What nock is used in the Cheetahs? My CarbonAeros use the SuperNock, which I hate.
OldDog
25-07-2002, 02:05 PM
Marcus there is a pin nock system available for the cheetah the nock looks very similar to a gnock
2Dogs

You have a choice of nocks.
You can fit the Super nocks....or put in an ACC60 nock adapter and use a G nock.
The option that Noel mentioned is very nice but the Public can't buy them yet. It's a pin adapter that slides very tighly into the back and takes a McKinney nock or Easton pin nock.
If you don;t like the Super nocks Marcus, why aren't you using the ACC nock adapters and G nocks???????????.
That's what I've got in my Epics

because every time I ask for them my dealer says they are not available. :(

Gday Eberbachl
The nocks i am using are the slim-line nock which weighs in at 8 grains. It is shaped similar to a Beiter nock, i have had no problems with them, i think the shape saves the back of the arrow. I have only had 2 arrows broken at the back since i started using them.
The points i use are not a carbon express point, i am using a Flitemate Hot 50 point which uses grub screws in the back to get the points heavier. A similar point to the Flitemate is the point made by PDP which i understand are available from some were in Victoria.
The size of the point that you require are to fit a 3-60.
I do not believe you will be dissapointed using CX 3D selects they are a good arrow.
