Tell me, what does the rating column for each thread mean?

Also, I think a cool idea would be to incorporate levels for posters to be used in conjunction with the top 5 posters feature. I think you might have done this allready, as I was a rookie forum member, now I'm a forum member.

Some member levels I've seen on other sites have have been:
Newbie
Fast poster
Crazy poster
insane poster
no life
etc
etc
etc...

Just a thought, although you might have something like this allready in the pipeline :)

I saw the rating feature on another board, and although I don't really like it, thought I would try it too. Alot of this forum is me learning new tricks in Filemaker and Lasso, so it was more of a "lets see if I can". Of course I knew I could, but I wanted to do it on one DB, a bit trickier.
Yeah there are levels all the way up to 1000 posts when you become a God! Also the coloured bar on the left changes colour and progresses. I have a no life one there too.

Cool, the Northern Blackhawks forum is good. Looks like you're getting excellent participation there.

I think the poll feature is excellent. Is there a way to stop people from just refreshing the frame after voting and voting as many times as they like (sorry:( - I could'nt resist:)). So that we have a true representation of the poll results?

PS - I just clicked on one of the smilies 'cause I couldn't remember rolleyes and it doesn't seem to put the smilie where the cursor is?

The Blackhawks site is great because we are a small close club and it's the offseason so it's kept alot of members talking and interested in the sport. Huge help.
Yeah they were all getting ****ty about being Rookie Members (which is of course the term for a first year player, so the second year players were bitching about the title.) I even had to dock some posts because they were cheating.
Yeah I thought you cheated on the News poll. No not really. Only if I put your name into the DB if you post in a poll but it's getting bogged down with too many searches per page as is so I want to avoid that. I don't care if people cheat the polls, it's their forum they are ruining.
The standalone Poll system does have cookie protection but it only lasts that session.
Yeah the Javascript isn't smart enough to place the smile where the cursor is. I suck at javascript so I havn't worked out how to fix that.

I want to improve the rating system with better graphics but I think I will redo alot of the DVA main site first.
