I hear many people don't like 3 spot for target. Reason is that many feel they often miss one face. Why is that do people think?

* Because of a change in body position?
* Because they get a phobia with one face
* Because changing faces ruins the routine.

Shot 2 arrows in the top target and one in the bottom target at the masters - real pissed off as as all were 10's.

Think I got excited at getting the 1st ten the brain went to lunch :D

I find the contant counting down from the top target does put me off a bit like bugs eyes in field.

It easy with one target as the focus is the same but you kill the x7's :D

Just need to concentrate and shoot more 3 spots.

Your telling me :o

First shot 10, looked up to the gallery and got the throat cut motion from the Queen, second shot 10 same target.

It wasn't until you and that Barnes woman went for drinkies that I started to come good.

Didn't want to use it as an excuse :D

Guess three spot is part of the game.

But it's easy to get out of rythm if being overcautious about
checking your at the right spot.

Takes a sec or two extra to make certain you're at right spot and
it's tempting to not check good enough if you draw and instantly aim's right in a gold spot. Brain says fire and hope for the best.

I love shooting the three spot. The times I have shot at a single spot I'm always worried about ruining arrows so I feel like I aim a little left or right with the second and third arrow. :o Also as you move to each spot it feels like you are shooting at a clean face each time.

I put three arrows in the top tube of my quiver and I shoot the same pattern every time. I never shoot two arrows into the same spot.

The only problem with the three spot is if you throw a really bad one out there you are more likely to score a zero since you don't have those extra rings.

I prefer the vertical 3 spots. The vegas style 3's cause a change in foot position on the 3rd target in order to change the angle of the body so as not to shoot off. Very annoying. Since I don't change my outdoor set up to indoor. I have less of a worry about smashing or robinhooding big fat alumins.

I have to spend a fair bit of time acclimatising to them (like, a solid week or so of nothing but 3-spots) because a 12mm Beiter sight tunnel with no insert is just slightly bigger than the 3-spot face at 18m and I really don't like having all that white around the target...

I still prefer single spots merely because that is what I learned on originally. But I have been shooting on three-spots more and more recently because of arrow damage and don't really mind them as much any more. I haven't ever shot at the wrong face but have often aimed there before realising what I was doing wrong. Better lighting indoors does help, I've noticed.

I definitely prefer 3 spots than single spots.
I shoot much better with them; vertical or Vegas, this does not matter for me. I find it easier to focus on a diffent spot for each arrow. It obliges me to make a complete review of my sequence at each arrow. This is very good and prevent from loosing the focus on an arrow of an end.

But I admit that I may have little difficulties with the highest spot, because of the position.

I have issues with the bottom target of a 3 spot face.
The top two i can hit 10's no probs, but the bottom one, well it all goes pear-shaped.
It's probably a mental thing, once i shoot it badly in a round i'll continue to shoot badly on it.

Just read some Lanny Bassham stuff where suggested that you shoot two arrows then nock the third, take it off again and nock a fourth, to fool the brain out of being self hypnotized to shoot only a nine every third shot.

Dunno if this kind of voodoo actually might work...

You could give it a try would be interesting to hear how it goes. :bday:

I prefer Single Spot however it can get a bit expensive cause every 6 months you need to buy a new lot of indoor arrows.

Single Spot is better be cause if you have a bad release and it goes to left it could still hit a minor score 5-1, whereas with a 3-spot if you have bad relese or somethin and it gos to left it could mis the outer ring the 5 nad hence a miss.

Yep, we think of wrist slashing if we get an 8. In Mens Compound shooting an 8 almost certainly means you will not win (same with a 3 in field).
