On August 4th starting at 10am we will be running one of our monthly 3D shoots. Targets will be a mixture of 3DAAA and ABA targets set between 5 and 35m. Visitor shooting fees apply to non members. ($5). This is an informal event with no prizes.
Come along to try out some 3D.

Hey Marcus,
I was having a chat with Steve tonight re: this shoot....Sunday August 4th is the day.
We are also going to provide a "helper" introductory division where groups who are new to 3D and would like some help in the distance judgment department will be given the distances for each target in the form of ....Target 1, between 29 and 34 metres, Target 2, between 21 and 26 metres etc.
This helper division is there to encourage people to try 3D whilst minimising the risk of lost/broken arrows.
All current AV/AA and ABA members are welcome to come and visit DVA on this day to try the shoot. :D
Cheers,
Luke.

Hey everybody, don't foget that the DVA 3D shoot is on this Sunday!
All ABA and AV members are of course welcome, and we will be running the "intro division" for those who want the help with distance judgement.
If you are planning on coming to shoot 3D for a day for FIVE BUCKS! post here and let us know so that we know how many to cater for :)
Thanks! :D

Hey,
We had our 3D at DVA today. It was great to see ABA and AA people on the same course together.
We ran the "marked" division, and a few people took us up on the offer of having either the exact distances or within five meters supplied for this very tough 3D course.
All in all, the shoot was enjoyed immensly by bothe the unmarked people and the marked people, and we are talking about when the date for the next one will be...
Marcus has the results, and I think he's going to post them on the DVA site soon, so check them out when they are posted.
Thanks to everybody involved! :D

You guys down in Victoria look like you have some nice field courses, judging by some of the photos I've seen on this site.
I'm jealous

Thanks Paul, we're proud of our field course :D - why don;t you pop down to Mexico for a shot, visitors are always welcome :)
Wev'e got 3 ABA courses set up, one 14 target IFAA course/FITA field course, and the 3D course gets set up anywhere along this beautiful gully which stretches from our clubhouse down to the Plenty River......Big Area!

Don't be too hard on Marcus though  - we shot 56 arrows today!
....we shot kind of an adaptation of the IFAA 2 arrow 3D round..(two 14 target 2 arrow rounds)..plus, getting around the course is pretty hard work in spots, our course is one of probably the top three considered to be the steepest/hardest in VIC. Makes for some pretty challenging shots at times :D:D

The arrows didn't get me, the damn walking did. I am so unfit! Couldn't wait to get back to the clubrooms for a nap and nice cup of tea.
Here is the course layout
Target 1 Elk/Moo Cow 39m
Target 2 Bear 28m
Target 3 2x Deer 26m&28m
Target 4 Boar and Pig 32m&29m
Target 5 Standing Bear 38m
Target 6 Laying Deer 21m
Target 7 Elk 49m
Target 8 Pig and Goat 13m & 15m
Target 9 Prong Horn 45m
Target 10 Cougar 31m
Target 11 Javalina 23m
Target 12 Deer 36m
Target 13 Big F*^#ing pig 48m
Target 14 Deer 33m
I can say quite accuratly that few of those we got right. Examples are
target 13 I guessed 34m. When I did shoot a 18 on it it was at 45m.
Javalina we all thought was 18m. Good things our bows were half fast.

Marcus ,
You best get into training . We are having an IFAA 2 day shoot at Geelong In November next year .
That should be enough notice for you to get in shape .
Me I don't bother I just puff and pant and have another drink when I get to the top of the Hill.
Fitness is overrated any way . Been struggling up them bloody hills since I was 18 no easier now, even with practice.
