I'm happy! ...and and I'm not!

hehe, I went down to the club tonight for a quiet shoot in the indoor.

Well, I was shooting pretty well up until the first arrow of the third last end, it was then that nerves were starting to get the better of me. Now I know that this is only a silly practice round, but you see my best score before tonight on IFAA indoor in the last two weeks with sights has been 287. (that's 'cause whenever I shoot a 4, I stop scoring :)). But tonight was different, the bow at last is pretty good, and I was shooting well. All x's and fives until arrow number 46!

I was getting pretty nervous at this stage to say the least (the first 300 is going to be the hardest :D), and I drew the bow, aimed, and just as the pin went over the x I flinched. Now, of course if I had let down and started the shot again chances are I could have got the 300, but me? NO! I just had to try and recover that shot and of course shot a @#$%^& 4!

What did I end up with? :(299 33x!!!:(

Oh well, I guess I'm 12 points closer to 300 than I was yesterday:D

...I think if I look really hard I just might be able to see a lesson here :confused

Ah that's goota suck. Nothing worse than missing due to being lazy! :)
So what did you do to throw you up 12 points? Better tuning? Practise?
The lesson is that you can't shoot 4's if you want to shoot a 300. :D

Well done though, the first 300 is the hardest, but you'll get there very very soon. After that you will be shooting for a 40x, then a 50x. That's the trick, forget about 300, just shoot for a 40x score, chances are you'll get a 400 be default.

Keep it up, DVA shooters kick arse!

mmmm, you're right!

The twelve point gain was undoubtedly due to better tuning and practise practise practise!

I think I've shot about a thousand arrows this week:)

1000 arrows would be nice. Maybe I should become a teacher. :)

I wasted my whole weekend. Was not happy with the grouping of this shoot over rest at all. (70m would put 4 touching one end and the next all over the place) so I messed around all afternoon and got nowhere.
It's an old rest so I'll have to buy a new one, problem is the Goldern Key doesn't impress me for the money and that's all anyone sells.
Will look at the PSE rests I think.

Ha Ha :) yes you should become a teacher, more time for the better things in life, ie archery, flyfishing etc:D:D I was pretty busy today, so only got to spend about 2 hours in the indoor :eek

...saw your post on the new rest...hope it ends up working OK!

Yeah thanks me too. It's getting me down that I'm wasting valuable shooting time playing with equipment. Erika shot a PB on a Ladies FITA the other day and all I could do was shoot powdered arrows. :(
Yeah this work thing seriously puts a damper on life in general.
