Cause it's not going to help you win the Field at the Nationals Next year

The rumor that I reported earlier is now fact.

The organising commitee for the 2003 Nationals has approved an all marked Field Round, and is awaiting ratification by AA.

So what do you think.

Post something...........it would be good to get some feedback to pass on to the relevant authorities

Personally I don't care. It should make the Hunters round a lot quicker. I don't think it will affect the top shots at all.

Same group of people are going to be at the top.

I think it is a sensible idea.

Next thing that they should do is set the targets at odd distances not just
15,20,25,30 etc

Do things like 13, 17,22,27

So people need to learn there bow better , it is not always easy to split the yardages on some bows and some splits aren't where you think they should be .

Bruce,

I understand that the hunters will be walkup distances...just marked.

Still makes you concetrate........I found all my dumb mistakes come out of the hunters in IFAA & FITA.

Those odd distances can have you setting your sights on all sorts of numbers :D

Well I think that's fine as long as it's not 2 days of the same marked stuff. Should be good fun.

Someone was talking about it being the Australian Field Round. Not quite sure what that is, but it's marked distances.

I'm guessing it's a mix of shooting 4 from 1 peg and other targets being walkup's.

Actually it's like an IFAA round. The field round we used to shoot years ago when I enjoyed it, was 4 arrows per target shooting at IFAA style faces.

I hope it's like that.

Apparently I upset some people in Sth QLD by posting this information, because it wasn't 100% correct.

Well TOO BAD.

This is a public forum and I'm expressing my own opinions not the views of any organising committee.

And if I want to post something based on a rumor, then I will. If it generates some discussion about it Good.

Those who weren't happy with what I wrote, could have always posted something to correct me.

I have a real problem with people in command who jump on these forums, NEVER contribute and then personally attack people on what they say. If your decisions are good, fair and better for the sport then publicly defend them. If not then prepare for the ridicule. There is no reason to hide this field fact from the archery world, in fact we need to know ASAP to start practising for it. Remember as an AA member you are doing this Nationals for people like me, not for yourself.

Thanks for the info Paul!!

I think making the whole field tournament marked is dissapointing. The unmarked is much more interesting and challenging (regardless wether you gauge or not!).By the way I believe everyone gauges in one form or another, whether being with your bow or your big toe!Everyone stands up to the shooting pegs and uses all their resources to guess the distance, this is a form of gaugeing,is it not?.

Well said!

I love the idea of an IFAA style field round......IFAA field is great! As far as I'm concerned, leave rounds like IFAA and FITA field marked, and leave the unmarked stuff to 3D....I love shooting all three, at least if 3D is unmarked, and IFAA/FITA field is marked, that way we have good, balanced options to people who can choose to shoot field on their own terms, marked or unmarked.

................Hang on a minute!

Paul,

You post something you say is FACT and then wonder why some people get upset because the information is NOT (as you put it) 100% correct. Well, the last time I checked what "fact" means it certainly doesn't mean something that isn't 100% correct.

AND Paul - not even an apology OR correction! C'mon Paul, I like reading your posts and you certainly have offered plenty of good info in the past BUT the "I don't care" attitude about something which you posted as fact (and which wasn't) doesn't sound like the real you.

Paul,

The AA National field round is described in the AA rule book, :D :D :D but you remember shooting the old FITA Field (marked) :P :P which allowed walk ups, fans etc and was four arrows per target. ( a lot more arrows shot for your entry fee). I understand that some consideration is being given to have this round shot at the nationals to attempt more people to shoot the Nationals. The gossip for the past few years has been that many new and recreational archers have stayed away from the Nationals because of the unmarked round.
If the 2003 Nationals goes ahead with this round it will be interesting to see how many people will enter.

Sin,

The fact is I am quite correct in that next years Nationals will not have an unmarked round.

Apparently my description of the hunter round was not correct. It's going to be an Australian Field round.....which is pretty much like what I described :D

I was pissed the other night because someone told me this information on the phone, and when I posted it for discussion they did a back flip and started pointing the finger.

It was insinuated that such matters shouldn't be put on the internet for discussion........which I disagree with. And if the Commitee disagreed with anything I said they are more then welcome to post their information.

So that's a FACT JACK  enough said......we all talked about it all face to face this weekend and we are all one big happy family again. aplologies to all those who found my dummy spit entertaining

Thanks Paul,

I wasn't trying to start a fight - just calling it as I saw it ....AND I can sympathise with you about being **ssed off.

Marcus,

I didn't know the facts ......now, thanks to Paul's last post ...I do.
