Thanks ,

Gilli

I think that the Trans Tasman team has not been announced yet because the arrangements with New Zealand have not been finalised.

Hopefully we will all know soon

The Trans Tasman event is scheduled for Auckland during the Australian Nationals, so when will the team be announced?

New Zealand has selected its team, and as far as i know it is going to be held at Auckland Grammar School beginning the weekend after easter with the matchplay on April 16th, and the FITA's on the 17th and 18th. This clashes with the teams and World ranking matchplay at the Australian Senior Nats

They all had to nominate for the event before the Nationals to be considered......perhaps some chose not to? :-?

She registered, they took the money at the Nationals for registration, even told her afterwards that she was pretty much in.
AA does it to juniors again.

Get her to check with AA. The email about the JWACs team apparently missed a couple of archers off the first time round, and was then resent! :D

There are probably a few obvious archers missing
Amee Gunawin from Adelaide Archery Club won her section at the Junior Nationals by a large margin. :-?
Just watch this girl. Potential like we saw in another AAC Junior , David Barnes.

There has been an unforseen delay with the shirts. Will get them out ASAP. Worst case scenario I will take them all over to New Zealand.

While I have no doubt you are doing you best PKF this is something AA must get on top of sooner. I coach 2 of the kids going and I would much prefer they get to shoot in the tops well in advance of heading over to make sure we don't get any interference.
Given the size issues I have always seen in archery uniforms (especially with the girls) this is vital.

THE VICTORIAN UNIFORMS HAVE ARRIVED> They are at my house
DEAN SAYS - HE WILL NOT WEAR THE SHORTS..... :agrue:
SHORT KAHKIE STUBBIES, FLY FRONT....
I'M GLAD I WON'T BE THERE TO MAKE THEM WEAR THE SHORTS!!!!
LEXIE DID WARN US.....
The tracksuit is great, and the polo shirts are ok.
But the hats!!!! I guess the hair styles will just have to make the hats invisible :agrue:

Hi Gillian,

I've organised for Nicole to come and collect her uniform with Sten in the next couple of days or so.

THE VICTORIAN UNIFORMS HAVE ARRIVED> They are at my house
DEAN SAYS - HE WILL NOT WEAR THE SHORTS..... :agrue:
SHORT KAHKIE STUBBIES, FLY FRONT....

Does Dean have an issue with the fly or the colour or both? :D

I was expecting them to be delivered to my door by AA, but Erica (Sten's mum) informed me this morning that would not be the case. I don't know why anyone at AA didn't do me (and I presume others) the courtesy of at least giving me the full story. It isn't nice to discover you have an hour's drive just to get the uniforms.

However, I feel for the Sydneysiders, some of whom are probably faced with far more arduous trips to get their uniforms than us in Victoria, given Sydney's traffic and sheer size.

Cheers,

Although the timing of the uniforms have left a lot to be desired, and maybe the style, this is the first year that the archers have not had to pay a cent for their uniforms. Previously it was expected that the archer got 1 shirt, track suit (maybe), and paid for other items of the uniform. AA has done their best to get it right within a tight budget.

FITA has set some standards in relation to the uniforms worn at International competitions. All archers, coach, managers, have to wear exactly the same uniforms. If I read the rules correctly right down to their shoes and socks. ( I think purple socks would look good with all the green and gold, dont you!)

As for delivery, as time was of the essence, I requested Gill to receive some of the uniforms.

Some uniforms for international competition are sent to the venue and are not used prior to the shoot for obvious reasons, security & safety. This can be imposed by the organising body such as FITA or AA.

I have seen a couple of the kids in uniform and yes they do look great.

The Uniforms were collected yesterday after an hour and halfs drive to the uniform office and then drove an hour home, 1 hour to archery park at 6am to pack and send the uniforms and then went to work another 45minute drive.

My greatest concern was that each archer got their uniform before the event not of how much time I would have to spend driving around Sydney in peak hour traffic.

The whole point for me is that the kids have a good time, shoot arrows maybe even make some new friends with similar interests.

I think you'll find the rule you read is 3.22, Dress Regulations, being part of Chapter 3 which is titled "Championships". I may well be wrong but I read it as being only applicable to FITA Championships such as World Champs, and also Olympic Games.

Clare Barnes

And further to that bit about uniforms, on page 4 of the latest FITA Informations:

http://www.archery.org/fita_publications/fita_informations/3_March_2004.pdf

it states that they have reveiwed the bylaws that were passed in December which made the dress rules very strict for Championships, and it now applies ONLY to the Athens Olympics, and will then be "subject to further discussion and voting for other events". :-?

Well that's encouraging that they have defined it so precisely. Dont forget some of the kids going to the Trans Tasman will also represent Australia at the Junior World championships.

For the JWACs I would assume the current FITA Rules (April 1 2004 version) would apply. They can be found on Page 41 of:

http://www.archery.org/rule_book/rule2004/book1_2004.pdf

I understand that, according to FITA, bylaws overrule the Rule Book, but the December 2003 bylaw changes now seem to apply only to Athens.

Clare,

So do the Dec 2003 bylaws require the whole of the Ozzie team to wear the same socks, shoes and clothing for Athens?

And does that also extend to hair colour/styling? :-?

Brian

Edit - Marcus, maybe some parts of this stream should be moved to the Oly pages?

The bylaws now applicable to Athens are in the thread: http://www.archery-forum.com/viewtopic.php?p=79523&highlight=fop#79523

No specific mention of hairdo's, but you'd think it would be more important than having the archers and coaches having the same length socks! :o I'm sure the boys will be working on something..... :D :D

That's great, and while you are at it I also suggest reading the "Want to the Banned?" thread in the Announcements section and see if that jogs your memory.

BTW AA has provided uniforms for free in the past, they were even uglier than the current. (fluro green!!)

On a positive note it would be good to get some pictures of the uniforms. If these are the same as the ones used in New York then the shirts are pretty good. A couple of the things I like about the current uniforms are:
The embroidery of the ASC and Aust sheild is really nice
The use of the athlete's name on the back

By far the best shirts however were the ones used in the World Field team a few years ago. Very very nice and the use of white more than green makes them look more professional.

Flame,
The boys and girls (Ladies and Men) I believe wear the same uniform.
Tailored shorts, AA polo shirt. Tracksuit & Hat. They are very smart.
I was only commenting that Dean like all boys wears the shorts below the knee and as baggy as possible to look as ferral as possible..

They are very lucky to get the uniforms for free, I think when Dean went to NZ in 2000 that the tracksuit cost me something like $160?? So it is great not to have the cost of the uniform added to the travel/accom costs.
We appreciate that AA are providing the uniforms for the Juniors for TT.

Peter thanks for all your effort in getting the uniforms to us same day. Chris picked his up last night. and I think Sten and Nicole will get theirs tonight.
