Interesting that 1,2,3 in the Mens Compound were using the new Carbon Tech Cheetah arrow. And dispite the tight grouping none were broken.

We think the Cheetah is a very suitable arrow for Adam Richards to be shooting......because basically he's a Cheatah  how else does he win

Paul,
Who make the Cheetah's?
What are they like?

Kuru

James, that are made by Carbon tech 6.25 grains per inch. The OD is .28"

Hey Paul,

What sort of points, nocks etc are guys using on the Cheetas?

I know you said that.....

Got them rigged up with 90gr ACC hyperspeed points and G nocks.

....in another post.

What is everyone else using?

Are people using the PDP speed points, if so what do they look like. I got some of these points last year with some arrows which will remain nameless (aaarrrrgggghhhhhh, don't remind me :) ) and these points looked really bad last year. Rough machining and bad weight tolerances.

Have they improved???

Obviously no probs with the ACC hyperspeed points fitting, how are the gnocks??? Unibush fitting OK?

Thanks,

Luke :D

Adam was using the PDP points, but they are pretty crappy. Rough I should say.

Woody & I were using the Hyperspeed ACC60 points @90gr.

Very Good arrow.

Woody was uing the 35/60 model which is supposed to be the Mid range model ($120 dz), but their tolerances seemed almost as good as the top range model. The top range model is very very straight.

G nocks with a UNI bushing fit perfect. As does the standard Super Nock.

Adam has a pin nock adapter that fits very well( I like it the best) but they aren't for sale yet

Thanks Paul,

Yeah, I think the PDP points are really crappy. The dozen I got with those oh so awful nameless arrows last year were not good at all.

Where are the CT Cheetah shafts available from in Australia. Can I buy them from someone here, or do I have to do the overseas mail order job?

I think I'll buy some of these and set them up with ACC points and uni-bush/gnocks to try.

Cheers,

Luke.

I have a question re the advertised weight of these shafts, has anyone actually weighed these shafts. I have heard from two sources that they actually weigh about 1 grain per inch more than advertised. I would like to try some but without knowing the actual weight of the three sizes I am hesitant.

If you have a set please weigh one in grains and divide by the length in inches. ie grains/inch and let me know ASAP.

Leigh the weights are as follows.......I think I mentioned these elsewhere.

525 6.3 gr per inch
400 6.6 gr per inch

They are about .2 more then they advertise, that's measured on an electronic scale.

The 525 model is maybe 10-15 grains lighter then the equivalent 45/60 safari, not a big difference in weight, but if your only shooting 50-55 pouds that would make a significant speed jump.

The big jump is in the 400 spine model .Safari equivalent (made up same hardware) 55/70 334 gr Epic 344 gr...........cheetah 306 grain.

BIG DIFFERENCE for such a spined arrow.

The mid range models are very good too. 35/60 & 45/70 models aren't quite as straight.

Paul,

Thanks,
I shoot a Mathews Q2 and a Legacy at 56lb 27" draw. I am currently getting very good grouping with Safari 45/60's. What were the Qld guys using / bow weights/ draw lengths. I can only get the 525's at the moment, do you think they would be eqivalent to the 45/60 safaris or perhaps a little lighter in spine.

From what I've seen the 525's would suit fine for your setup.

Adam is shooting the 525 @60# 28 1/2 " Woody shot same specs as you.

I shot 400's because that's the only size I could get.

I think they might be little lighter spined then a 45/60............but without measuring them i don't know.

Rick McKinney recommened the 525 for Adam and he went and shot a 557 IFAA.

I can shoot the 400 or 525 model (28 1/2 60#) both group great...........ones lighter then the other. Can't make my mind up

What size vanes are you guys using on your Safaris/Cheetahs? I'm using 180's on mine and they group well to about 35m where they start to lose it. Indoor they group fine (and the reason I went large vane)

Thanks Paul.

Marcus,

I use Flex Fletch 200's and only for Field. They are fine at 60m.

I will be trying spinwings soon.

Hello Leigh,

I agree with Paul the specs you mention the 525's would suit you, because the light carbon shaft are stiffer than you think plus add the pin-nock in it stiffens them a little bit more. They are a great arrow and I know you will like them and good shooting with them. :D :D

Do they make a size that would shoot out of a round wheel target bow and 50# draw weight at 25-26" shaft length?
Thanks,
Jbird

Maybe the 525

A Friend Woody shoots specs like yours and he shoots them very well.

Mongrel beat me at the State Field Champs a few weeks ago with them
