I'm reading (again) Lanny Basham's book "With Winning In Mind" and I'm curious how many archers follow such a program. I've tried his program in the past but I wasn't really committed to it. I'm at the point now where I can see most of the points I'm loosing are due to mental mistakes and competition jitters, and generally not shooting MY shots.

If a mental program has made a significant difference to other archers I would like to hear about it.

Steve while I have read Lannys book, alot of it seems very basic CBT and while thats all good in theory you really need to see a good psychologist to get the full picture. Personally I think alot of what we read can actually be quite dangerous :( We all want that "special" thing that'll help us shoot 1400 and sadly some people take advantage of that

I sorta agree with Kuru. I have read that book, bought the cd and a few others, but I still go back to what has worked for me and my mind.

Well I've started using some relaxation tapes, which were giving to us after a mental seminar, and they are oh-so-cheesy. But hey, they seem to work at the time, just geting them to work at the start of a FITA, with no cassette-player handy, is the problem!

I have read the book twice. I find myself using little bits and pieces of it, but I dont follow it to a T.

Look I'm not saying what he says is wrong. It's good to learn about his thoughts over all it's just that it's he's way but it's not the only way
