View Full Version : Inner circle ?
Hi all just want to know if somebody can help me out re inner circles on fita faces, I havn't shot for years and trying to get myself motovated :p to get back into it so I've been cruising a few web pages and I find out there is an inner circle !
Whats the deal with it ? Is it used to do count backs ie x's instead of 10's or ?
So if anyone can shed some light it would be much appreciated
Thanks in advance !

Hi
In about 93-94 FIta in it's wisdom decided that too many people were shooting compound. Compound shooters were shooting far better scores than most recurve shooters. (I say most because the Korean women shoot scores only a few points less than the top compound women)
So Fita decided that they would introduce the inner 10. The inner 10 was used only by compound shooters. This meant our 10 was half the size and our 9 ring was massive!
I retired straight away, archery was no fun anymore. You could put a really good group in at 70m and get a 54.
Well Fita has gone away from the inner 10 and changed it to an X for count backs. Most casual shoots don't bother with it. Only Fita star events and indoor.
I said 8 years ago I'll come back to the sport when the inner 10 was thrown away and I did. :D

Hi Gareth,
I can't add anything to Marcus's reply, except to just welcome you to the DVA forum..
Where are you from, which club etc? :)
Hi mate good to see a half decent australian web forum. Havn't joined a club yet, probably sherbrook so i can shoot target and field. I'm feeling really keen to get back into it ! Got the new mach 9 delivered the other day all i need now is some arrows, think that'll have to wait till next payday. I'm assuming easton still make ace's ? or am i that far out of touch that there is a completely different brand out there these days. Anyhow great to have an australian forum !

Thanks for the feedback, tell other people to jump on here too, only way to make it better is to get more shooters posting.
Let us know how you go withthe Mach 9. I have thought about getting the 9.5 (I shoot a Mach 5 right now), very solid shooting bow. Very similar to the current Silhouette model, but better equiped.
I take it you live near Sherbrooke? Which club did you use to be a member of?
Yep ACE's are still around, however they are more expensive now, about $48 a shaft setup. Easton has their own vanes which are very nice. The G nock is still the best and the cheaper way to go.
Easton now has X10's as well which are thiner and heavier. Better for the wind, but made up with the top points are about $65 each.
The other option is mail order in Carbon Techs. Nice accurate arrow (current world record holder, as seen in the news section) but the nock situation is crap with them. ( I review them in the reviews section. )
Yeah I'll let ya know how the bow is after I've got it set up, I've borrowed a few old acc's off a friend just to have a ping, so i'll bolt everything on tomorrow and have a play around with it, it's a bit heavier then first thought but it could be I havn't held a bow for ages so could be party that. I don't live to far away from sherbrook so I'll probably go there. I shot at waverley for a while years back and the last year i shot i went to lilydale and did freestyle unlimited compound, do they still ahve that ? I'll either join there as well because I loved fielnd and 3D, or I'll join up at DVA as my girlfriend lives near there and I pretty much live there it's just most clubs shoot saturdays and sherbrook is on a sunday. Anyhow thanks for the info on the ace's, glad to see they are still around and I'll pass on my thoughts after I've got the mach 9 tuned up and ready for action ! I'm really looking forward to shooting again :)

Yeah Freestyle Unlimited is still around in ABA and IFAA. DVA is open to members everyday of the week except thursday night (Flyfishers) and we will have a IFAA course setup by the end of the year.
Sherbrooke is a good club so you can't go wrong there either, havn't been in a while though.
If you want to shoot target as well as ABA then DVA is the best to join being the only club catering for both. Otherwise Lilydale would be better than Sherbrooke if you want IFAA as they have a monthly IFAA shoot.

Yeah, Lilydale is a very good club for fiels archery, monthly ABA, 3D and IFAA club shoots at the moment I think.....but if you want to shoot some target and field, DVA would have to be the way to go.
We currently have a monthly ABA field, and monthly 3D in the ABA section. As Marcus said, we will also have a good IFAA/FITA field course in by the end of the year, and will probably run a monthly IFAA also.
Indoor range access along with target range/field course 7 Days/Nights a week to all members (except, as Marcus said, for Thursday night when the Northern Suburbs Fly Fishing Club hold their meeting) is a big plus, as well as the provision for both AV/AA and ABA archery :)
