Well it's official, I bought a set of these arrows today for Hayley to shoot for the masters games, and they are now labeled "Cartel Triple".

....no more Olympians...

So it's on the arrow now.

"Triples".....what a stupid name????

I'll keep refering to them as "Olympians"....just to piss Easton Off

I can see Jim Easton now at board meetings screaming "We have to stop Paul Malynn referring to these arrows as Olympians!!"

So when shooting the Cartel Triples does that mean that only 3 at a time will ever group?

Eberbachl

Yes, thats right Marcus, these arrows are ONLY to be shot for indoor under any circumstances...

Yep I'll single handedly bring down the Easton Monopoly..........unless I whore out and get 2 sets of X10's.....

Then it be Easton Rules.......just like all the other sponsored sheep

Oops

Secrets out, I've been doing Don Rabska for the past ten years.

Couldn't live with the shame of it all

Hey but at least i'm not as big of an "equipment Whore" as Richards.....the guy would swap his left nut for a free packet of nocks

Marcus

If they are Easton Pin nocks then the left nut is proably worth it.

OldDog

...decide on a spine change, so took the 700's back today, and got some 800's.

The 800's are called Olympians

Marcus

Why the change?

Eberbachl

Hayley's bow is tending to want arrows on the weakish side anyway (both CyberTecs are), and with Hayley's very short draw (we had her shooting ACE 850's with the Spyder at 24" and they worked well) the 800's aren't all that weak.

I think they will suit beter than the 700's, they were looking like being too stiff.......and you know how I am with weight ...you wouldn't find me wanting to put in heavier points to fix that :D

Cartels spine chart, interstingly enough suggests 900 olympians, which I think is really getting on the weak side, so that's the reasoning for going for the 800's.....I hope they work well :D

I have been looking for some new shafts for my Super Nova to pick up a little speed and flatter trajectory for field shooting. Have considered the
CT McKinneys but was told by someone who should know that he saw Roger Hoyle sort thru 6 dozen McKinneys to find 10 shafts that would shoot. So then I started hearing about the Olympians/Triples and GT gets on one of the forums and says there is a wide range of spine within the same shaft series and that they don't group. Is all this true or is Easton just trying to sabotage any competition? Do I just give up and spring for the ACE's?

Jbird,

I've read all that stuff and I'm still shooting my Olympians and shooting extremely well with them.

I read GT's post about spine as well, I don't have a spine jig to prove it.

GT may have hold of a set of the older shafts.....I don't know

I think the proof is in the pudding. Shooting my best scores ever with these arrows. They were purchased off the shelf.

All the people in Australia that are shooting them I only heard about 2 that didn't like them.

I heard a rumour from very good source in the USA that said Easton was putting pressure on distributors not to carry the arrows in the USA. Now I wouldn't have a clue if that's true but it may explain why they are hard to comeby over there.

I remember GT's comment that Easton wasn't losing any sleep over them........................maybe they are getting worried

Thanks Paul,
What size do you think would shoot out of my Super Nova at 50# with a 25" shaft length? This is a deflex round wheel bow as you probably know.
I find that arrows with a 11-13% FOC shoot better for me at 70 and 80 yards. What points and weight and what nocks do you recommend for these shafts. I am shooting Beiter In nocks in my ACC's and they perform well. I think I read that you prefer the pin nocks but I don't think they are available for this shaft.

I spoke with Roger Hoyle on a chat a few weeks ago and asked him if he had any problems with sorting out good arrows in his McKinneys, and he said he did not. All the shafts he got were good. Who's your source, Jbird?

ttaass,
Would rather not say where I heard this, but sounds like you might have heard the same story. I suspected it might be BS. I think there is a lot of sabotage going on right now directed at McK.

I also asked Roger Hoyle about the CTM's and got the same story. He just fletches them up and shoots them. I wouldn't be surprised if he did some sorting, but folks who are sponsored by Easter, ie, they don't have to buy their shafts, sort their shafts too.

When the outdoor season rolls around again in my part of the world I will consider getting some Triples or more McKinneys.

Easton doesn't really care what happens with Carbon Tech or Cartel arrows. 99% of the arrows sold are sold to hunters. So even if they lost many sales to CT or Cartel they would still own the arrow market. Besides all of the recurve records are held shootng Easton arrows. Almost all of the compound records are held shooting Easton arrows as well..

Yep Mckinney reckons that all the the non Easton Arrow companies sales together only add up to approx. 5% of Eastons total sales.

They are the Microsoft of the Arrow World

I just thought I'd say that the Triples are great. I've had a set for a couple of weeks now and instantly noticed the difference. My normal rating is 63. The day after I bought them I went out and shot 6 rating points better than usual (69). In practice later on I shot a 79. My rating is now up to 68.

Whether it's the arrows or my more positive mental attitude (at having the newest arrows on the field) I don't know, probably a bit of both. Previousley I was shooting X7s and there is a giant difference. Yay for Cartels.

No complaints about Olympians either. 1226, 1214 at 2002 National titles for an 8th in men's recurve. Not bad for an ol' man :)

I spoke to a canadian visitor at the indoor on the weekend, He mentioned they pay approx. $350 per doz. for aces, got me to thinking so I started sniffing aroun, Asian archers pay about $380 a doz, U.S. archers payabout $390 a doz, Why the heck are we here in Ozz paying nearly $600 for the same, something doesnt smell right about this, Any thoughts anybody. ? (these prices are all in Aus dollars)

Eberbachl

Sounds like somebody is laughing at our expense Noel

...If those sorts of prices were available here, the ACE would be comparable to the Cartels on price point.

For a combo field/target arrow I'd definitely have to choose the ACE at that price, they still are a vary nice arrow, but for pure target I think I'd go for the Cartel... :)
