Jim will be holding a seminar at DVA at 7:30pm this Friday on how to get a great release. He will cover using the release aid well, and also getting the correct release with a recurve bow.
All are welcome to attend from all clubs. Just turn up. Try to get there around 7pm or we start without you. ;)
See you all there
Hey Marcus - can you tape it and send me a copy ????????
PLEASE !!

The way we operate the release or clicker is a fundamental difference between expert archers and the average archer. Once we have the basic stance, bone alignment, bowhand position, etc, correct, it is the release that makes the major difference between an average score and an excellent score. All of the expert archers do this very well indeed, and until you get it correct the high scores simply will not be there. An archer using the release device or clicker incorrectly will virtually always be beaten by an archer who does it well, even if everything else is perfect.
What I plan to cover includes:
- How do we tell in one simple observation if an archer is doing it well.
- What are some good strategies to get it correct.
- How can we readily practice it.
- What are some of the things that can go wrong and how might we fix them. (For example, how to we avoid "punching").
- What to do in windy conditions.
After I have spoken for a little while and shown a few examples of what to do and what not to do, I would be happy to watch you shoot and perhaps give a few tips, so bring your gear.
Come along prepared to ask questions and argue, as we will all then get a bit more out of it.

argh F%&*@@$g S%$& damn crap!!!! :x :x
I'm working all night friday night! I would love to get to this seminar too.
3 options:
1) sabotage club thus forcing the delay of the seminar.
2) Convince Marcus to tape it and make a quicktime of it.
3) *cough* I feel a sicky coming on! :D

I'll see if I can get a DV camera for the night.
Last time I taped one I had a hell of a time getting the tape duplicated. However this tieme I'll see what I can do.

Put it on DVD - R : cheap easy and cost less to distribute
If you get a series together you could market them.

I agree, there could be a market for a DVD of a whole series of seminars, from bow hand to release etc.

A great seminar
Learnt heaps
Thanks Jim :D
Was there any information that really stuck in people's mind that they can pass on here? I'm sure there was a lot to learn, so just any points that people found really useful would be good.

No it wasn't recorded. Jim will be doing some sessions just for that purpose soon so we can provide a better product.
Seminar went very well with everyone saying they got alot out of it.
