View Full Version : Light Sight?
Need a new sight for my bow (present one [toxonics 1400] very dodgy, lots of movement that translates into unacceptable inaccuracies) Shoot a very light mass compound bow (and only 40# draw) therefore a lot of sights feel unnaturally cumbersome. Does anyone know of a decent yet inexpensive sight (under $350) that is very lightweight as well as sound????

I have never used one, but the Bernardini would seem to fit that spec. It seems to be a copy of the Sureloc (which I use, and is the best sight I have ever had).

The sureloc challenger is another that comes to mind

I would readily second James' recommendation of the Bernadini. I shoot one currently and it really is a lovely sight, for around the $300 mark you get (admittedly a sureloc lite rip off) a really good quality sight with excellent features.
I've never shot a sureloc challenger on one of my bows, but having had a look at a few I think I'd rather buy the Bernadini......it's really like choosing between the challenger and the Lite if the Lite was the same price.
Now don't get me wrong, I don't claim that the Bernadini is quite AS good as the sureloc lite, but it really is an excellent value for money option and is not that far off it.
Check out my review (and associated comments) of this sight HERE (http://www.dva.asn.au/reviews/article.lasso?id=10177)

We had about 4 juniors go and buy sights last xmas. 2 got the Bernadini and they are still going strong. The other guys got cheaper sights and have had them break.
Sten Nigol is shooting a Bernadini on his Champion Flacon at 40# and it's been perfect. He'll keep that sight for a long time. He's 12 and his bow is super light.
You can't go wrong with it.
If your looking for a lightweight sight I don't think you could go past the Cartel Activa, it is a recurve sight but it would be easily strong enough for most compounds, and the best bit, $150 It's pretty much a korean knock off of the sure lock fita extreme but like a 5th of the price !

Arc Systeme SX-10 is used by 2 of the compound shooters here at the uni. Pretty much a Sure-loc rip off for about $200

....anybody get the impression tah there are alot of sure loc rip-offs on the market???? :D
Luke why pay a huge amount on something like a fita extreme, about 700 bucks when you can get something that is a copy at $150, it's all machined alloy so it's not like different material, just gives you lots more money to spend on other stuff :)

Dunno about that Gareth. The Cartel one is not as robust as the Bernadini one. Erika's Sure Loc has lasted her 10 years so far, and we have no intention, or need to upgrade it. The Cartel is OK, but rattles a little on some compounds I've seen. Fine for recurve, but I wouldn't shoot it on a compound. The Bernadini however I would.

I know it's only for Recurve, but I got my Sure-Loc Contender-X the 2002 model of the Fita Edge, straight from the States $280. :D :D .
Oh did I mention it was brought in by a friend on their way back home. hehehe

I agree with YOU Marcus, the cartel sight is not a patch on some of the others mentioned, several archers up here have tried it and have had no success getting it to stay together, BTW is there anywhere I can see a picture of the Bernadini, Cheers

The toxonics tacdriver is also a very good light site. It is a lighter version of the naildriver at about half the price
Wow Noel that suprises me as I've never had a problem with mine, it's fantastic !

I agree entirely Gareth, that's why I shoot one of the Sure Loc rip-offs :D:D:D (the Bernadini)
.....I just meant that it's interesting that so many are copying them. I don't think anyone would argue with me that the Sure Loc is superb quality.......just too much damn money!
