A newbie came down to the club last year and was interested in joining, we were then an ABA club, we handed him the forms and didnt see him again. At the beginning of this year he sent the ABA forms away, to the ABA so he could join the club, he had no idea we had gone to 3DAAA.
When he had not recieved any info from the ABA he rang them and made some inquiries, he was told that they had not recieved any paper work. He explained he wanted to join the Manly Warringah Field Club, at this point they took his money and his details without having the good manners to explain that Manly no longer is part of the ABA.
As you can imagine he feels cheated that the ABA took advantage of him. As he put it, "they got my money this time but never again". Shame!!

I would say that it is nothing more than a misunderstanding.

Is your club still affiliated with ABA?

If not then they should be willing to refund the money on the grounds it was a misunderstanding and knowing very well that he won't be utilising his ABA membership.
I would approach ABA about this and see what their response is, give them the opportunity to correct the situation rather than dragging them over the coals publicly.

:D

What misunderstanding? The guy tells you he wants to join MWFA a 3DAAA club. ABA knows we are now a 3DAAA club but take his money anyway, where the hell is the misunderstanding?

I think you are being abit unfair Rinaldo , Just because your club is a aaa club doesn't mean members of your club can't join ABA . Any one can join ABA , I think the member concerned if he had been away for 12 months should have contacted the club first to see if anything had changed or if the club still exhisted . I know that I would check my facts before joining an association so as I could shoot at a club I wanted to join. Now this person is a member he has a whole lot more options open to him than just being a member of aaa.

jmho, bit of comunication between potential club members and the committee wouldnt go astray.

Yes there does happen to be a few archers that are members of ABA and shoot 3DAAA and vice versa, and AA as well.

So it isn't so simple as to assume that if an archer belongs to one organisation, they wouldn't want join another. :-?

The guy asked to join Manly not ABA, 3DAA or even AA. No matter how you want to paint it the guy was "had". End of story.

Surely this guy was explained to about having to be a member of ABA to shoot at away shoots! So his money wasn,t totaly wasted, he can go to branch shoots etc and still shoot. He was obviously happy to join in the first place so now he can experience what ABA is all about and make up is own mind. Last but not least ,after staying away for so long he should,ve checked nothing had changed and as always ,research before handing over hard earned cash! Don,t let this put him off archery! :D

He was ripped off. Maybe next time he can go join a darts club so he can enjoy the experience of ballroom dancing. You cant defend the indefenc.ible
