What is the essence of archery for you ? What keeps you coming back for more

That perfect shot. When it all comes together and the entire shot from predraw to dead centre X and follow through are perfect.

So far I've had a couple, and I'd dearly like to string 6 or 36 or even 72 or 144 of them together.

Then there are the FITA benchmarks. 1200, 1300 FITA recurve, and winning a matchplay tournament.

On a day to day level it is improving my technique and form and aiming for PB scores.

The memory of the perfect shot, and trying to recapture it. (Yes, I have made a couple over the years). The knowledge that this shot, imperfect as this one may be, is all my own work, and the next one may be 'the one' ! Besides. it helps to keep some maturing bones and muscles moving, and one meets some very 'interesting' people.

Habit I think

I'm very obsessive, so once I start something it takes me alot of time to get over it and move on to the next obsession.

Well at first thought, I'd say that I'd be the opportunity to win tournaments and travel, and the likes....but I do still enjoy practising (as long as it's not going horribly) so I think that it's more of a personal challenge

One day i might need that skill to take out someone at 70 meters... :wink:


REally.. its to be in the ZONE. The feeling you get when everything feels right.. the moment u anchor.. u know its going to be a 10.. you hear nothing else but your heartbeat.. the moment when your surroundings disappear..and you only have your mind on the gold.

yeah that too.. but sometimes its more like stupidity... :lol: :cry:
