I'm thinking of buying a new bow. I'm a PSE man, however lately am thinking at looking at Hoyt again. I've shot some good scores with my Super Slam and must admit that the fact that there are few good Fita scores being shot with PSE's in the mens divisions concerns me. Also I don't like the look of the Silhouette PSE leaving one choice. I'm also interested in trying out a ProTec.
(Actually Luke's mobile phone convinced me to go Hoyt)
I'm not sold on Hoyt but would like LOTS of people's thoughts on this.

You know my thoughts on Hoyt! - You've seen my phone :)

...but seriously the only thing which would concern me about the Pro Tec would be the I beam riser........don't get me wrong, I haven't shot it yet - it might be FANTASTIC, but I have heard some negative reports about I beam technology.

On the subject of I beams though, I will say that I have had some first hand experience with them, my hunting bow, the Magnatec is an I beam riser and it performs extremely well, very forgiving for a short bow with slight reflex riser, but still arrow speeds in excess of 260 FPS with heavy alloy hunting shafts and 318 FPS with my ACE 570's ( I just HAD to try that :)) The big thing about I beam though is much less recoil after the shot because the riser is stiffer with less weight.

I do think though, that if you could find an Aspen LX-PRO, command cams, or a second hand Stratus Plus, Carbon +4, command cams (I really hate those sloppy, boggy, no performance energy wheels, command cams are much better performance, a nice solid wall, but not so aggressive as to become unshootable :)) they are very hard to beat, and I would be suprised if the Pro-Tec could improve on their performance or shootability much at all, the Stratus Plus and Aspen are really great!

Well we have been thinking alot about this one.

Nock Shop have a Aspen at the moment, but it doesn't excite me and it's dear at $1100.
I have thought about trying a I beam bow simply because you don't see any around. I would love to give one a good run, plus I can sell it later.
I'm going down to Bows Arrows and Bits on Friday night to give a VorTec a shot.
Hopefully I'll get to shoot some command cams. They look OK, but I do prefer wheels. The Accutec wheels are sloppy though, however Erika is shooting hers like a dream right now, so you can't argue about accuracy.

I think till I get a chance to shoot some it's hard to judge.
My PSE is shooting well right now so I may not change, although once the mind starts thinking {*b}NEW BOW{b*} it's hard to resist.

mmm I'll never argue about the accuracy of energy wheels, they are very forgiving and accurate,,,just really slow, and a sloppy mushy wall :)

The aspen at the nock shop I have actually given some thought. I don't think $1100 is really too bad when every thing alse I look at is $1500+......but I really can't complain about the Stratus Plus. I just love new toys and would only be buying a new bow 'cause it was new and shiny :)

I seem to remember David talking about an Accutec once, I've shot one, but it was only a couple of shots. I think David might have had one, and I think he said it was really not that flash......it seems to be very similar to the Pro-Tec,...maybe there are quite a few subtle changes, otherwise i think the deflex geometry is a bit similar isn't it, and longish ATA, I beam etc...:confused...

I talked to him about the Accutec a little earlier after reading your post. He said it was dog slow but has wheels and crap limbs on it. Couldn't say much about the riser. I might give Clint Freeman a call and see what he thinks of them.

Been thinking of shooting BU and I might get myself a set of cams and shoot the Super Slam. It's there at home so no reason to buy something new.

Only thing that worries me about the Command Cam is that I don't like punchy bows, like my bow soft and without much kick. Love the feel of Erika's box, mine was good, but after putting the weight up and adding riser wieght is has lost that and feels quite harsh.

What makes you think that command cams make a bow punchy? :) - you've shot my bow - it's sooooo sweet and smooth :):) Ha Ha!

I believe I was thinking "where did my shoulder go?" after shooting your bow.
