Ok,

this will be my first Nationals and i'm looking forward to it. However i've never competed in such a high level event in an individual sport like archery.
What i want to know is, have other people found there to be much more pressure to perform well when competing in an event like this for the first time. Were you nervous, anxious, calm, relaxed etc?

In team sports competed at this level you have the support of your team mates to draw from making the experience a little easier. You have to perform to the level your team mates are and it isn't hard to do once the event, game has started.

any thoughts?

I ,ve only competed in 1national (aba) and for someone who normally kicks butt , i fell apart!!!! I tried too hard. my wife (FREESTYLER) goes in with the attitude ,oh well i,m here to have fun! and is state champ 2 years in row. She,s got 1 gold and 1 bronze medal from nats. So i guess the moral is RELAX so she tells me . I,m very proud of her , it takes away the pain of losing so i,m happy! :D

Enjoy, have fun, block out everything but the joy of launching the arrow you are cooperating with there and then. If you feel the preasure, think of
the insignificance of one human launching an arrow on earth, in cosmic perspective. :D :D :D

Only God knows how many trillions of archers there's out there.
(Off course some of them may have the benefits of lower gravity and thinner atmosfare)

Then again, who knows how many Gods there are ?? :D :D :D

The only stress/pressure/anxiety will come from yourself. Only YOU can control your emotions and YOU have that control

It helps to keep in mind that the only person who really cares about how you are shooting is YOU! Everyone else is too busy caring about how they are shooting. So just concentrate on shooting your current arrow with good form, and enjoy the companionship of your target mates the rest of the time.

Cam,

It is just another day at archery. I agree with most of the advice above (I have some problem with that from Harald) :) but go forth and enjoy shooting.

Don't think of it as a Nats, just another tourny with more people. Relax and shoot to your best ability.

Enjoy.
