I have registered a new domain name called
http://archery-forum.com[URL2]archery-forum.com
have a look, it may take a few days to show up on your systems. I want to build this as an alternative entry for DVA.
Will take some time to build up.

No it need the DNS's to catch up. It's nothing to look at yet, only bought it yesterday and delegated today.
I see someone is using HTML tags instead of LAMcode. Smartass! :)
Welcome fellow senior member.

you know it took me a while to get that breakfast.com joke. Don't use computers with serial ports. Sute I have USB, but I call it USB.
Bit slow these days.

hehe, I've always cracked up at that joke for some perverted reason...I saw it on a quote site (for which I have forgotten the URL) once, and have just about used it ever since :D
mmm...I still use serial portsfor all sorts of stuff.
...but my laptop hasn't even got one :( would you believe I don't even own a USB device, and haven't even used one yet!

Great idea. If you want the visitors, I'd change the board software.
It's too buggy and not enough features.
IMHO

That would defeat the purpose of developing one for this middleware now wouldn't it? For only a few months of part time work from th ground up it works quite well. I may move in the future to mySQL but I'm not interested in moving to php or ASP

What is so buggy about it?
Really craig!, how 'bout being constructive if you've got something intelligent to say and telling us exactly what the bugs are that you are referring to, and how you think we might be able to improve the forum :eek
I think it's great! For a couple of months of Marcus's work, I think it's a fantastic job! Far better that you or I could do Craig:D. I regularly use the Easton, PSE, Goconnect and this forum and I think this one is just as good to use. The PSE forum has a couple of cool features that I've been meaning to speak to Marcus about, but that's how the development process goes, eh? always getting better!
This sure as hell is the best Archery club site I've ever seen.

That's the problem on the Web.
People get very easyily offended by peoples messages and take it the wrong way. Ok, maybe I did come across it the wrong way. I'm sorry. :(
I never said I didn't like the site I was just suggesting to maybe have more features and stuff like other forum software out there.
That's all. No offense.
So when is the new domain going to be up? :D

That's cool, I think mine came across a bit harsh too.
Yeah I'm slowly building in the extra features into the forum. My next step is to build admin facilities, which won't mean much to the user, but will allow me to ship it as a shareware product. (free of course)
If there is a specific feature feel free to request it. Alot of the UBB and vBulletin features don't interest me, but if there are enough requests I'ld consider it.
My next stap after the admin is the design, still not happy with it.
As for archery-forum.com, well it's going to have to wait I'm afraid, just not enough hours in the day. May be about 6 months off. :(
The domain is up and hosted, but no content.

How about enter when entering links, it creates the link.
When I enter http://www.dva.asn.au it would come up as a link, and if I entered craig@zoist.com it would add a email link.
Or maybe a preview message feature?
Cheers,
Craig

That is a bit of a off commment because I have a lot of serious scripting experience with Perl 5.

I never said this place sucked. I like Archery and the club and the people. I am here to make friends not enemies.

Hey craig, get over it, I'm sure you're a real Perl 5 guru, just move on. It's good to see you're now being constructive :)

Some things do change Marcus :D
Now look at the speed!

Yeah I moved to this one after developing a Lasso/mySQL version. It was as fast (a little faster actually) than the PHP version, but ran out of time developing it. So a business decision was made and a commercialversion was used.
Working well too.
Still not interested in developing a PHP version.
