A nice way of preparing for a competition is to have the goal of at least shooting one perfect shot.

Nothing about being among the three best or shooting above 560.

Then you try to acheve the perfect shot with each and every arrow you shoot. As soon as one shoot is done, you evaluate it briefly and then forget about it.

Your goal will always be the same: to execute a perfect shot.

Scores and the ones you have shot whether near perfect or not is totally unimportant until the end of the competition.

Goals like shooting an end of f.eks 56 in average might unconsciously restrict you to only shoot an eight with the last arrow if that's what you need to reach your average goal. :bday:

On the weekend, I feel I had three perfect shots out of the 150 or so that I made. They were all in the same end and they all just felt absolutely perfect! At 80 yards and when I looked in the scope, I saw that I had just shot three X's. Regardless of where they went, I would still have been happy with how they felt. Didn't get as clean or smooth of a release again the entire tournament.

Thats damn good advice Harald, like you grant I had three perfect shots also and they were in the X on the IFAA field I was shooting (55yards) the forth was close but good enough to be considered a perfect shot. The feeling is so good , you just know that the shot was right and it doesnt matter where they go (nice if they are where you want though) the shots were perfect.

I do like that approach Harald though, thanks for that mate :)
