View Full Version : Using arrow velocity

As I noted in another thread, I picked up my new bow last week. As it was raining, I was only able to shoot indoors at DVA. Marcus measured my arrow velocity using his radar chrono: it was 266 ft/sec with my 354 grain X10's.
I input the physical measurements and that velocity into Accurate Sights this morning and printed a sight tape. I got the 10M setting in the correct place by shooting a few arrows in my garage at home.
At Sherbrooke today I went straight to 70M with Mike and Zoe. First shot and I was in the centre of the target - did not need to move my sight at all.
Hence: if you have a good velocity reading you can readily take this approach. Even if the chrono is a tiny bit out you will find that the settings will be quite good. It also tells me that Marcus' chrono is a good one.

I've never seen a chrono, let alone used one. :(
Anyone in NSW got one, Marcus, your coming to the GP aren
