Has anyone been shooting the Hoyt single cam bows and if so, how did they go? It seems that no-one is shooting these - they are choosing the command cam instead. Is this because Hoyt's sponsored shooters are using them or is it because the single cams are simply not accurate enough?

I was looking at their catalogue and for example, the HavocTec with the versa cam looks quite good (looks like the specs would produce a good target bow - good brace height, good speed etc). Even the hyperTec could be good with the single cam. It would be great if there was a good shooter around who was using one of these. What do people know about these??? Particularly those of you overseas, Levi Reed, do you know if Dave Cousins has been trying these bows?I would certainly like to give one a go, given Hoyt's reputation in terms of producing accurate bows. -- I was comprehensively thrashed into 2nd place in the 2-day FITA field tournament on the weekend by a well known Hoyt-sponsored shooter (711 - 701 to Clint :x ) And his bow I admit did look nice and it was obviously shooting quite well!!

Any thoughts???

I'm not afan of single cam designs. However I have shot the new Hoyt SIngle cam and will consider one of the 2003 models. The Dual track Idle solves one of my major concerns with the single cam design, the fact that the string runs through the centre of the top limb and the side of the bottom doesn't exist.
The HavocTec does look good, and would make a great target bow. Similar to the PSE Xcellerator.
I believe that Dave shot the Excel cam at the NFAA Nationals, which he won easily.
If you want a shot of a CyberTec with the VersaCam Steve Abbey shoots one at DVA on Wednesday nights.

I don't believe Dave has been shooting any type of one cam. Although a great deal of target archers have been and have been doing quite well. Keep in mind that you give a top guy a bow even the lowliest of bows and they will shoot it well.

mike;

I see a number of 3-D guys shooting Hoyt single-cams up here. I would go dual (CC+) myself, but if you are set on a single cam - they work. The dual-track idler is the way to go.
