Hi All,

The time is getting closer to the event, and we are currently still seeking active expressions of interest.

The event is open to anyone who wants to come and shoot for a bit of fun with some uni students!

In addition, we are especially seeking ANY UNI STUDENTS, regardless if their university has a club or not, to compete in our event.

We have been informed, in order to get Archery into the AUS National calender, we need to have university archers, not university archery clubs, from at least 3 regions (AUS East, North, West, South) and 2 universities from each of these 3 regions.

If we can demonstrate that there are enough university level students (undergrad, postgrad, grad dip etc, and TAFE inclusive) across Australia, then we stand a chance of staging a National event, and even support for a team to go to the World University Games in the future.

There will be prizesand certificates available for overall winners, and medals for those eligable from the AUS East region.

Please PM me or email me at

archery@susport.usyd.edu.au

for more details if you are interested.

We currently have potentially 25 archers competing, but we would love to get 30+, especially those who can come from interstate!

Many thanks

So you want Uni students, but others can shoot too? What is the event format (FITA, FITA 70m, FITA 900)? Where and When?

Anyone can enter the event.

Everyone is eligible for the sponsored prizes but only students from certain uni's (Uni of Syd, Uni of NSW, Newcastle Uni, Uni of Tech Syd, Uni of Wollongong, Uni of WSyd, and any other "AUSEast" uni's I've missed) will get official medals.

The event is two days.

Day 1 - "FITA" day

Men's/Women's Open Recurve/Compound - Men's/Ladies FITA

Barebow Men's R/C - Ladies FITA
Barebow Women's R/C - Intermediate

Men's/Womens' Novices - Intermediate.

Day 2 - FITA900 & Matchplay

All divisions - FITA 900

Matchplay is optional, and depending on numbers will be individual or teams.

It will be at 50m on 122 cm face as Novices will have shot 60m and 55m and all other divisions also shoot 50m.

It is on the 5th and 6th of July 2004 .
It will be held on St Paul's Oval, University of Sydney, Camperdown campus.

But if you intend to enter, you need to fill out an entry etc so we can plan for targets etc.

It is not a registered FITA Star event so nothing can be claimed.

Sounds like a lot of fun, I will definitely check my calendar - July is a quiet month usually.

I've got the link for the event calender of AUSEast.

Scrolling down to find archery will be the links to their files for the circulars and information as it is released by AUS

Competition begins tomorrow. Targets were hired from Homebush today, and the field prepared.

Good luck to all competitors. :D
