no dealer in sydney would stock my draw weight and length so had to buy one to try it, now want to try something else.
thats the story

It's a pity that you and 2Dogs have different draw lengths then. You could whore gear off each other if so.

The Ultratec with XT2000 limbs and Spiral cams and 8125 strings goes as fast or faster then the Supertec with stock strings.
What didn't you like about the Supertec?

50% of members at our club shoot 27 or so inches and under 60 pounds.
so shooting a 70 pound 28-30 inch bow as stocked is not very helpfull

Sadly I agree. To find a 27" compound "off the shelf" in Sydney is rare indeed. In fact to find anything in target colours is nearly as rare.
I'm still battling the recurve or I might have been interested. The little shooting I do with compound, the Merlin will suffice for the time being.

So where are the Hobbiton Archers based?

axilla.
27-28 inches is a pretty common size,
our local shop catters to the hunting faternity so everything is 28+ and 70 pounds.

Danceswithdingoes is after a bow around that drawlength.
Not sure how much he wants to spend though.

"Wants to" and "can actually" are two very different things unfortunately :o
This ones beyond me (unless someone buys the alpines)

to get back on topic,
there is nothing wrong with the supertec i think the spiral cams are sweet, just with the insurnce pay out i thought i would try something else.
i have the ultratec for target work and was going to muck around for a while to find something that really suited me for 3d.
might end up comming back to the supertec :) . or as you said gove the ultra with spirals a go.
remmber guys our dollar is not going to be this good against the us for ever
but how do you know if theres anything better untill you tried it
