Hey Folks
Go easy on Maranoa.
Dave B and CMB50 just do like me and ignore her postings. I'm sure that if we keep her in the dark for a few years, we will be able to open the door one day and find a lovely mature adult.
Dave B and CMB50, are you related; you have the same last initial?

Marcus,
If you have a quality product the public will come to it. This site is a first rate quality product, for all of these reasons IMO:
1. Well organised
2. Standard of contributors with in depth knowledge of the sport
3. Good humor from many issues
4. Information of happenings within our sport which we do not get from the fees we pay to clubs/RGB's or AA.
5. And no GT
Biases do appear, but are most often addressed in an appropriate manner by contributors, even your bias against the cl..t word. :fist:
It is a credit to you, for which I express my personal thanks, in the maintenance of the site. It must be hellishingly time consuming. And a credit to yourself and other contributors who keep the rest of us informed, entertained, or just frankly wasting time.
Keep up the good work.
Brian

Thanks Brian
Yeah super large thanks must go to the contributors. Many many other forums exist and yet you have all chosen this one as your place to post. It's incredibly enjoyable watching you all have a good time, and that's what this is about.
One thing I have always tried to do as the administrator is not sacrifise my own obnoxious attitude for political correctness. :D
After 20,000 posts I still can't believe that anyone likes clout.

I can remember some pretty longwinded discussions about nothing between just one or two posters in the early days, but Archery Forum was fun even then!
AF is a huge credit to Marcus, he's built a great place out of nothing, which is enjoyed by not only the 500 and something registered members, but by thousands of lurkers worldwide as well! (hey lurkers...register and get posting :D )
The exponential success AF has enjoyed over the last eighteen months or so...I guess it'd be getting close to two years...is testament to the site's professionalism and popularity. It's a place where archers can be serious, or just goons. :bday: But over and above all of that, lots of people have had lots of help because of this place, and many people have had a great time doing it.
Here's to a big thanks and congratulations to Marcus for all of his hard work, a big thanks to all of the contributors which make this place come alive, and here's to the next 20,000 posts!
.....and by the way mike, I can't believe you didn't get the 20,000th! What were you thinking?

I have only been a member of this forum for a few months but during that time I have learnt more about the finer points of archery than my entire two previous years of arching. I have also taken part in some interesting debates and had some laughs and insights into some of the weirder people who shoot arrows (2 Dogs). Thanks for creating such a great forum Marcus and congratulations on your 20,000th post.
PS. Will someone please tell me what TTT stands for!

Nah, 2dogs is to easily distracted by anything new. All I'd have to do is point in any direction and say something like "look at the shiny new hoyt over there" and the buffet would be mine for the taking.

I'm not silly. If there was one thing I learned from my years in hotels was never to get between two dirty great Queenslanders and food. It would be like telling John Eales he can't have the ball!
As for the winner of the hypothetical contest, my money is also on 2Dogs for two reasons:
The other able-bodied contestant missed an ideal opportunity to point out that I was so skinny that if I turn sideways and poke out my tongue, I look like a zipper. This is an indication of a fair and shall I say sporting attitude that has no place here.
Imagine for a second, 2Dogs and the Prawn Platter? It would be carnage! :o

Forget 2Dogs and the prawn platter, you should see Gareth go through em. At the Townsville Nationals he ate about 10 helpings of the Prawn cocktails and then the next day ate a MOUNTAIN of prawns on a cruise the team went on. Didn't even breathe between helpings! Scary stuff!

Here's number 4. The US forum arguably has greater technical wizards, but this place is better for two reasons - 1, y'all have more thoughts on form and followthrough; 2, I can post irrelevant comments and generally be closer to my normal self than I can over there.

Dragged down aerodynamically??? :o  :D
Yes, battling the effects of a particularly nasty side wind and repeated gusts. It didn't help that I had to explain it in writing on the forum and simultaneously carry out a small lecture on aerodynamics here at home (in which I have NO training whatsoever  ).
Dammit!!!
Now I have to wait until 40, 000!!!!!!! :x :x :x :x :x
And as for how it was done, that's a disgrace Frommy!!
carry out a small lecture on aerodynamics here at home
 hmm, yes, said 'small lecture' consisted of little more than two people furiously wiggling ball-point pens towards a non-existent target, then varying finger placement to denote changing centre of barely-existent mass...riveting stuff!
