Good weather with some light winds late in the afternoon, very good light and even at 30m at 4pm the light was still shadow free except on the Novice targets.

Pretty much everyone had a good day shooting without any complaints about the rounds at all, so I'm very satisified with the first day's shooting.

Results for the FITA900 tomorrow.

I actually had the highest 90m score of the day!!! 276  Then I followed it up with a spectacular 276 at 70m.

Pity it can't count for national rankings.

But, it should count for ratings. So I only need one more +1140 to get my MB. 8)

Had a fun day today. FITA900. My first three ends at 50m 54 (all gold), 57 (with a 7), 55 (all gold). Finished with 785 which is a pb by 5 points. Should have broken 800 though. Should have broken 1190 yesterday too... Oh well.

Sounds like you are goign great Aarlecks. I'm in a bit of a form slump an d struggling to get back up to 1st class at all :(

FITA 1144! Nothing to sneeze at. Well done. FITA 900 785 isn't bad either, actually. Good shooting.

How's the Aerotec going?

Aarlecks,

I changed everything at once - riser, limbs, arrows, and it was all too much. After a sub 900 FITA ranking round  I had a step back and a look at what I was doing...

The AeroTec is so solid and stable feeling. It hardly moves during the moment of release. My problems were with the grip shape, which encouraged me to rotate my hand to a more vertical position and brought my elbow around and into the line of the string. The bad FITA round was quite painful at times. :o

I've modified the Aerotec grip to make it a little higher and give a more positive pressure near the 'life line', ie more like a Korean grip. It has made a big diff as I am now no longer hitting my forearm. :)

Otherwise, the new limbs are probably a bit to heavy for me right now, so for the indoors coming up I've backed off a little and am training with the new riser (which is great) and my older 36lb Ultra limbs and my softer triples. I'm back up over 500 scores for FITA-I, and I'm happier with that. I've put in some series of solid 55 ends too.

Then I need to do a bunch of spts and put a lot of training arrows through the new limbs to build up strength and I'll be ready for the state targets in spring with a complete new setup. Nationals in 2005 or bust!
