I mentioned re the ABA web-site thread the advantages of the ABA rules being there. In the meantime I'd be grateful if somebody could answer a couple of questions. I have my first official ABA shoot in a week and a half and want to ascertain two or three things.
!) I haven't shot an official ABA round for 14 years so need to shoot an initial score for grading purposes. Is the grading scale different for limited bowhunter compared to bare-bow?
2) Hate to admit it, but I'm probably eligible to be a veteran! What's the critical age, and if registering as a veteran do you shoot against other styles in the one class.
3) I guess the grading applies equally to the conventional ABA two rounds and also ABA 3D?

1) You can be graded by getting you score recorder to submit 3 club shoot scores to the branch recorder.
Bare bow is graded Grand master, master, A, B, C and D whereas bowhunter limited/unlimited is grade in 2 flights, flight one and flight 2.
2) I am pretty sure there are 2 divisions in the Vets, Barebow and sighted plus Mens/ladies.
3) You are graded differently in ABA and 3D.
Hope this helps.

Thanks Coach
I make it dammit! Think I need to start a thread on this forum re the special requirements of the archer approaching middle age. To hell with growing old gracefully. Perhaps more to be said for growing old disgracefully!

Brumbies Country , straight from the rule book. "The veterans division shall have no grades and shall make no distinction in bow type".
Just to add to what Robbo has said
Bowhunter Limited
Flight 1 a score of 720 plus (3 arrow and 1 arrow score combined)
Flight 2 a score of 720 minus (3 arrow and 1 arrow score combined)
they are straight from the rule book ...hope that helps :)

That's great Steve re the clarification of the grading re limited bowhunter and veterans and thanks for the info.
Robbo, hopefully we will catch up there. I'll also buy a rule book if one is available. Somehow writing a cheque for $4.00 and posting it off to have the rule book posted back to me from Orange doesn't seem to be the best way of doing it.

Well, I'm ashamed to admit it, but for one of the few times in my life in a sporting competition I whimped out because of the weather. Was going until Thursday and saw the forecast and the idea of camping out lost some appeal. When it snowed at our place Saturday morning I felt I'd made the right decision. When I shot at the Yass club Sunday morning, cold and a bit windy but OK to shoot, I wasn't so sure.
Sounds like it went OK Robbo.
Newcastle would have been a bit breezy Jason?
