ARRGGHH!!! All you right handed shooter make the world more difficult for us lefties. :\ Its not fair.

So, heres my sob story: I find a great deal on a free flyte elite and a beiter plunger. Then today, as I drive my brother home from work, yes he's 17 and can't drive yet. :\ Don't ask. He points out the fact that a right handed free flyte can't be used on a leftie bow.

So, screw you all you right handed ba**ards!!! :)
JJ, I'm right handed, but I shoot left handed. But being a minority within a minority is junk.

You could just adopt the Korean approach to shooting (well, until a couple of years ago anyway).
"You're right handed!"

Oh, oh, sorta like the Japanese refusal to teach a left handed swordsman.

Why do you choose to shoot left-handed?

What would happen if you shot a left handed recurve right handed?....
Would it still be tuneable and shootable?

Grant Jenkins told me at the Nationals last year how he shot his wife's left-handed compound right-handed and managed a 55 at 70m, once he knew where to aim...
Never tried with a recurve though. I imagine the grip would be all out of whack!

I don't choose to shoot left handed, left handed-ness kinda chose me. I'm left eye dominant and since I was 10, or 8, or whenever I started shooting bows, rifles, pistols whatever, I've shot left handed because my left eye is dominant. *shrugs*

It wouldn't work. We've tried it. The follow through wouldn't work. As well as the grip being unconfortable.

That is what I expected.
There is no need to shoot left-handed because of left eye dominance. That is the way it was done in the past. Now we prefer archers to ignore eye dominance and go with their normally preferred side.

Those sobs. :\ Not sure I can give up left handedness after shooting left handed for so long. Its really weird, when I shoot a paintball marker(gun) I shoot twice as good with my left hand, but twice as fast with my right. I guess in the end its not too big of a problem for me as I'm almost ambidextrous. I just prefer my right side to write and eat with.

A left handed person is in their right mind.

That's interesting James. I am left-eye dominant but shoot right-handed. I used to shoot barebow, and was good at hitting trees and rocks and things. I recently changed to freestyle and now can hit the target (usually).
I did try to shoot left-handed once, but could not come to grips with it.

Same story, left eye dominant but shooting right.
Have to close left eye, but thinking of going for something to block out left eyesight to reduce facial tension.... :D :D :D

I think besides the grip being uncomfortable the archer's paradox would be reversed and the arrow instead of bending around the bow when exiting would bend into the bow hitting the window.

It shouldn't matter with a compound as there is very little archer's paradox

Good point with the recurve. I haven't tried shooting wrong handed with a compound.

Harald,
when you block out the left eye, use a translucent (frosted) cover. The pupils of the eye contract and dilate together. If the non- aiming eye is closed or covered competely to block the light out the pupil of the aiming eye will open wider - a reflex action - and admit more light. This will create glare in the retina and lessens the visual depth. Also the aiming eye, because of this, will fatique faster and cause eye strain.

Right eye dominant but shoot lefthanded. Switched to right hand years ago for a while and shot just as good but it just didnt feel the same. I switched back and have shot lefty ever since. Have learned to shoot with both eyes open with a lot of practice. :o

Thank you Robert, OD...
Think I'l check with a gunshop if they have some adequate gear for cap attachment....
(Does not feel comfortable wearing glasses when shooting (Neither the ordinary nor the sun type)) :D

If you are correct, that answers a question that I had with my shooting many years ago when, although right eye slightly dominant, under some light conditions I had to partially close the left eye. Then followed eye blurring for a short period, which affected the next shot.

Makes sense now.

If it bends into the window, can't you just set a much stiffer button to compensate and make it not hit the window?....

As for compound, if you're using a release properly, there is practically no issues at hand, especially since that is why there are shoot through risers that work for compound.

Maybe I should give left handed shooting a try cos there is some nice left handed gear out there....

Know Alternative Sporting Services has shoot thru compound that's
suitable for both righys and lefty's but don't think I'm quite ready for it yet... :D

I'm interested in some nice left handed gear.
