Has anyone ever tried using a stabilizer that uses a gyroscope type system to help keep the bow very stable? Is this legal? Systems like this are used often in things such as model helicopters, etc. obviously not a particularly inexpensive system, but i would imagine it could have a great impact.

Gyroscope is a device to measure the angular displacement of a external against the rotating planar. But not keeping the system in position though.
if you are using the Gyro effect to keep something stable. you will need a larger rotating mass. but again, how do you feel about the gyro effect of a high speed drill or grider?.

Some guys have made them over the years - if it is electric it is illegal in IFAA/NFAA/FITA - so the most you can do is ude them in practice. Of the guys (compound) who I have talked to that have tried them they work, it deadens movement/float enough to make a difference - but also keep in mind they were *heavy* stabs, so that may have contributed as well..
There might be a thread on AT if you search.
