Last night there was a national coach and a regional coach at a local club. A couple of us turned up and got a little tuition.
One of the main things I was doing wrong was allowing my shoulder blade on my bow arm to move towards my spine. When my muscles for tired, this allowed my shoulder to crunch up a little and made it more difficult for me to get through the clicker.
The other thing about my form she pointed out was that I wasn't using enough back tension/pressure to get through the shot. I was fine until the last 1/8" and was pulling the arrow that last little bit through the clicker instead of allowing it to come through on BT. Worked out what she meant and was on my way.
Once I changed these two things, I not only discovered about 8 muscles I never knew I had but I had to move my clicker back by about 1/2" and started averaging 5/6 in the gold at 70m, where I was averaging 3/6 or 4/6 before. Other than those two points, she said my form was good and that she was particularly impressed with my bow hand positioning to ensure a complete line of force from the handle right through to my shoulder. (Thanks for your posts on this, Jim.)
So for now, I am going to work on improving these things before I try to get any more coaching. My shoulders aren't developed enough in the muscles I was using last night to last an entire round yet. But it certainly was nice to finally realise why I would get 1-2 shots every dozen that would fly out to the left. It was all to do with my release and the way my shoulder was.
